Just wondering how people download more than 120GB, because that's a lot! I have slow Eircom at the moment and at peak I download about 19GB. Will be switching to UPC 20mb next week..
Where does most of the bandwith go - torrents? - video?

    2 letters for you. HD
    surely that's just the router?

You are correct, the modem is a Scientific Atlanta, model: EPC2203

I do remember reading a few post's on boards and i can confirm they are still throttling torrents. I was upgraded to 10MB and i am getting a max download speed of just 2.7kbps

They aren't throttling torrents. I can get the max speed anytime of the day. :)

If you look at any torrent site and see how much media content is available you will understand how someone could download that amount, I was downloading twice that with a 3mb connection before BT started throttling me. With 20mb download speed I would expect to download a 1000gb a month at least. It's great news that NTL have uncapped their service, I will be signing up with them soon, I can hardly wait.

It's uncapped but they do have an acceptable usage policy and I would think 1000 GB a month would definitely violate that.

Does anyone have any idea what the contention is like on this?

Also is NTL's routing still going all over the shop?

Agreed, downloading 1TB a month on a residential service with a Fair Usage Policy will likely get your account terminated and I wouldn't blame NTL one bit for it.

Mainly becuse the SA modem can be used for VOIP. Your better off installing a modem that can be easily upgraded to VOIP rather than having to send someone out to change again.

Very happy indeed, Even though the upload appears to be slow there I don't really care right now.

anyone noticing slow down at different times of the day. I've noticed that between 7am to 11am i'm at around 19.5Mb/s, 11am till around 9pm its at ~16Mb/s and then it goes back up to 19.5Mb/s. I do most of my downloading over night so it doesn't really bother me but still just wondering what other people are getting.

Can someone speedtest their line now and see what their speeds are?

Jesus mine is crap compared to the rest of yours.
Getting 13099Kb/s downloads and drops to 9000kb's

NTL router is a Scientific Atlanta Model : EPC2203
Connected into a Devolo Lan over power plug connection
    Straight into a Linksys WRT54GS V1.1 ( internet port )
    Pc connected into port 1
Laptop port 2 using port 2

I have seen my connection drop to 7000kb's as well this morning not happy so far.

Mac daddy, try connecting the laptop directly into the cable modem and see if your bandwidth improves. I'd be suspicious about the lan over power limiting your connection.

Had the same problem with a 3com router, plug your laptop straight into the NTL modem and you'll get the full speed.

Hey AntiVirus... UPC have been telling me that the upgrade is not available in Lucan yet something to do with the exchange not being ready. Are you a new customer or have you recently upgraded? Am i the only one in Lucan without these speeds?

I'm beginning to wonder if it is this motorola modem that is holding me back.
    logs:
    2008-07-04 14:39:50 4-Error E206.0 Improper Configuration File CVC Format
    2008-07-04 14:39:50 6-Notice I401.0 TLV-11 - unrecognized OID

I wonder if you guys with the faster connection are using the Scientific atlantic modem (not sure the name is right there).

ARRRGH so frustrated waiting weeks for this....
