Hey sorry for starting a new thread but I just wanted to know something. With regards to on-campus accomodation if I've put down that I'd be interested in living with Irish-speakers (my mother's choice) is there any way to just change that part of the application (I originally applied in november) or would my whole application be lost? I've heard that accomodation is based on a first come, first served basis?

Sorry to be blunt here but who filled out the application? You or your mother? You're an adult now and it is you who should fill out the form. Contact them and tell them that you wish to change this part of your application.

best bet would be to ring the accom office on (01) 708 3322 like leixlipred said, they might not have necessarily put you in a room yet but explain them your situation. Good Luck!

Em, being perfectly honest it was my mother who filled it out, came home one day and she had it done, didnt want to insult her by just like rejecting what she had done so I had a glance over everything and just sent it. I didn't actually realise that there's a seperate hall for Irish-speakers.

I know it's my own fault, just trying to rectify it somewhat.

As said previously give the accomodation office a buzz ASAP to get it sorted out before the LC results come out.
You'll still get plenty of opportunities to speak as Gaeilge if you look for it

As a matter of interest, does anybody know where the "Irish Halls" are?

    there is???

i'd say leave it alone, they reserve space for irish speakers in all colleges. so you have a better chance of gettin campus i'd say? i mean if you can speak it kinda well then why not, your not gonna be forced to speak it...

Its not based on a first come first served basis, its done as a lottery two days after the CAO offers come out, so anyone that applies now has the same chance as someone who applied a year ago. I dont think theres irish speaking halls either, just alot of people go there to learn Irish so might want to share with Irish speakers, even if you do get put with irish speakers you can request to be moved anyway

not true, its true yes that its a lottery but the deadline to apply was a few months ago...
though if you have any disease or something along the line of that you'll prob get campus automatically...
