Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I am running vista.
My problem is that when i click on a program it doesn't open.
    instead "open with" opens.
And the place where it says use this for default can't be checked.
I can run them in administrator.
And it does that for everything, regedit, cmd, task manager, security center, games, fire fox, hyjackthis, ect.
I don't know what to do.
    Heres my log:

    System Restore.

Sorry, I can't think right now, does that delete anything?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,727 ✭✭✭✭Sherifu

Possibly update/driver or software installations. It won't delete any data.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10 luigifire

    It didn't work.

You went back how far? Are there older restore points?

I just made one, I hadn't made one before.

It doesn't work like that. It's pointless making one now. Unless there's one in the past it won't work.

    I noticed, I mean the only program I Can use in the control panel is uninstall. That's it. I've used anti spyware stuff, registery fixes, and hyjackthis, nothing works ;_;

I run your Hijack file here:http://www.hijackthis.de/en
It seems there are a couple of bad files.

    mickzer.

Yep, that's what I figured was your problem.

    http://www.winhelponline.com/fileasso/exefix_vista.zip

    Usage instructions
To fix the association for a particular file type, download the corresponding fix(I've linked the exe one above) from the above links table (Use Right-click - Save as option in your browser to download the fixes). Unzip the fix and extract the .REG file to the Desktop. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes.

no it's a life saver when it works and just about any muppet can be told how to do it

big tip - change permissions on the folder so you can scan it for viruses and stuff
