Reading in the paper today that only 4% of the M50 Westlink have signed up for electronic tolling because they don't want to release their bank details. The article ends by stating that the bridge cost €38 millions in 1990 and that the government bought the owners out for €600 millions recently. After spending €38m followed by 17 years of collecting tolls the company collects €600 m of public money? That is some return on investment. Am I alone in thinking that is outrageous and that ministerial heads should roll for it?
