Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So what are chess clubs like? And would a twenty-something woman feel out of place in one? Any recommendations? Invitations? ... other women?

    Hi,

Chess clubs tend to be very friendly places generally, so I'm sure you wouldn't feel out of place. There is a healthy group of women chess players in Ireland, and it is something that the irish chess union is actively trying to develop further, with the appointment of a womens officer, Gearóidín Uí Laighléis (women@icu.ie). I'm sure Gearóidín would be happy to answer any questions that you have. My advice would be to try your local club and see what you think. There is a list here: http://www.icu.ie/clubs/index.php. Good luck.

Wow thanks, that was a really helpful reply. I think I'll take your advice and just go and see.

Great. Try not to scare the men (too much) by being a woman :). Enjoy.
