Hey, I've lost my dog in Newbridge, she looks like a small greyhound but is a lurcher cross. She is fawn coloured and she is micro chipped and she had a collar on with her name and my phone number. She's called Lilly - I rescued her from PAWS in Junuary 2006 and she has never gone missing before. I really really miss her and love her so much and will do anything to get her back including give a BIG CASH reward. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call me if you see her 087 9263929. I realise that she may have been stolen but I'm hoping that she will be dumped somewhere when they realise that she can't have pups or they will give her back wanting the reward. I last had her at 4pm on Saturday last (28th June) at the Centra shop in Curragh Grange Newbridge Co Kildare. I was in the shop for 2 minutes and when I came out she was gone. The CCTV footage from the shop shows nothing. I have contacted all the local gaurds and pounds and vets in the area and put up posters and handed out 500 leaflets with her picture on it. I am really desperate and ANY help would be much appreciated.

drive around any halting sites in the area and look around. i'd bet it was travellers stole her.

Yea I kind of thought that but didn't want to be accusing. I went around to the halting site yesterday and they weren't very forthcoming and I felt as if I was accusing them a bit. I'll go back down again and try this morning. Thanks so much for the advise - really appreciate it!

if a lurcher or other type hunting dog goes missing in an area you can nearly bet it was travellers.
i could tell you loads of stories of this. a lurcher would be snapped up by a passing traveller. tell them theres a cash reward, your dog will soon appear.

I heard on the radio there were lurchers walking along one of the main national roads the other day - just barely caught it on the radio but maybe call the DSPCA and PAWS incase they pick her up. Good luck finding her - will keep eyes open.

Again, may I suggest that you try the Pet Detective: http://www.happytailsdetective.com/

Rather than offering large cash rewards, which just encourages people to kidnap animals, pay the detective his fee to find the dog. It's his job and he's good at it.

I hope you find her. Lovely lurchers...

Let 'em know in the halting site that there's a large reward waiting for the return of the dog.

I agree with mentioning the reward at the halting site! travellers always seem to be on the lookout to steal lurchers. the pet detective is also a good idea! I hope you find her, best of luck.

Sorry to hear you have lost your dog and the travelers is a good place to look. If you can get some evidence she is there the police might escort you into the halting sight if you ask nicely they did it for me once and I got my dog back. But do not tell them you have a reward even if they do not have your dog they will find some way of conning the money out of you.Rewards only attacked the wrong kind.Anyone who loves dogs will have it check for a chip and call you and will not expect a reward. Oh and I hear the pet detectives are good they found a cat 16 days after it went missing at the airport and they might have more experience to know how to deal with the travelers. And do you have a picture I always keep my eyes open around halting siites just in case I manage to see a straying dog that I can get away from them.
