Its a browser hijack that makes you click the words individually.

Strange when I looked at that page absolutly nothing happened. Might be something to do with having NoScript installed.
I didn't click it, I assumed it was a browser-hijack. NoScript would protect you from it alright.

Ah Rick-Rolling is still funny if used right, just like YORE MA.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,606 ✭✭✭Jumpy

I had better actually edit that, just to make sure someone who hasnt read the post actually clicks it.

No, Yore Ma was never funny. It's the visual diarrea of AH.

    I thought that was Tubgirl.

The moment Rick rolling is covered by mainstream media, it becomes painfully unfunny.

Its like your parents getting "hip with the kids" :)

You know you can get a firefox plugin now that tracks all potential rickrolls and warns you with an icon beside the link. pointless but cool.

Sometimes I think Boards should come with a prescription for prozac, for those with ridiculously short fuses ...

Or maybe viagra would do the trick ... :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,606 ✭✭✭Jumpy

Hey its not the length of the fuse. Its what you do with it.

Crumble Froo is a brilliant rick roller just couldnt help pushing that button.

I think they are brilliant in the right context and if you ban something as insignificant as that then a lot of things will consquently be banned.

It's retarded and those people that haven't realised that it stopped being funny some time ago should not be allowed to waste others time.
A forum is about people discussing things and finding out new information. These useless links to garbage add nothing to a discussion and should be treated the same as spamming or trolling.

I disagree with banning it. sure its always a kick in the gee to be rickrolled but its not all the harmful. anyway more and more people have stopped linking to the viral one, that locks up your browser (sure ban that) but I dont see the damage in linking to a youtube video for instance.

i think if your stupid enough to get rick rolled you should be banned

It's not like it takes a genius to pull off this elaborate gag. The person posting it hasn't gotten one over on anyone that clicks the link. It's akin to someone asking for directions then some hilarious sap making them up or completely sending them the wrong way. All they are doing is lying.

Yet if I were to start going into topics and posting links to random youtube videos I would get told to stay on topic at the very least.

The whole "Rick-rolling" thing must have happened when I was living in a cave with my eyes shut and wearing earplugs - I only found out about it last week!
It does make me laugh though - what a legendary choon!! :D:D

not a bannable offense surely? i mean, when done right it is funny, dont take it so seriously for god sake. there isnt any real harm in it imo

    Rickrollers are banned from AH.

We have had trouble in the past with people posting misleading links which resulted in viruses.
Any misleading link will result in a ban.

So is it just up to the different forum mods as to whether it's allowed or not then?
Put it in your charters mods. Make Boards a better place ;)
