    Look at the "Broadband Speed Test Thread"

    speedtest.net isnt a reliable ping tester
    not interested in download speeds , ping only.

    LOOk thru the speedtesst tread and find someone with breeze
    PM them and ask them to do this
    Go Start --> Run
    Type "cmd" and press enter
    When the command prompt opens type in this "ping boards.ie" or replace boards.ie with summat else

    Absolutely woeful, if you are planning on playing games, stay away.

    Would spike from 30 to 400 with high PL.

    would be interested in hearing others opinions on this too

    for me its a choice between eircom 2mb (256k upload) or breeze 3mb / 3mb

    would have thought breeze would give me better pings though quite alarmed by a couple fo the comments on this thread

    i'm in south dublin (cabinteely / loughlinstown)

    what advice would people give me ?

    Heres my ping to boards...

    My Breeze pings to google.ie vary from (never less than) 60mS to over (but not very often) 200 mS. It depends on lots of factors, location, distance from the high site, how busy it is & the network dropping or giving less priority to ICMP traffic if congestion occurs (read this on boards - my own testing appears to confirm it).

    I would not depend on pings to judge the connection, use a speed tester or bandwidth calculator instead.
    However, if you are a serious online gamer, Breeze might not work as well as DSL. You need more feedback from users in your area.

    Been gaming on the 3MB Breeze service for about 3 years now. I can't really fault them at all. Am based in Leopardstown/Sanyford. Was on the Ballyogan high site but on the Beacon one now.
