Anyone know where to get an air conditioning system filled in Mayo.

its for a renault megane 2004, had to get a new pump last week and the garage who fitted it couldn't refill the system.

(i want to try and avoid the main dealers if possible).

also what would be a ball park cost of getting the job done?

    John,

I would be interested in the answer to this also as I am in Mayo and I own a Megane (2001) whose A/C failed about 3yrs ago and I never bothered to get it fixed. My rationale at the time was that the car was even old enough then (3yrs) that the cost of getting the A/C fixed would just not be worth it. In the meantime the car loan is paid off and I've kept it longer than I'd expected.

Just out of curiosity how much did you pay for the pump/compressor repair/replacement ?

    According to

see 4 or so posts down - the cost of refilling should be circa 100Euro

My goodness. Way back in 2003/2004 when mine failed when I lived in North Kildare someone recommended someone who specialised in A/C repairs and I just phoned him up for a quote (he didn't even look at the car). He quoted around 700Euros+ at the time and said that most likely it was the compressor which was gone and mentioned about labour plus refilling with gas, etc.
I was a bit naive to not have shopped around but wise enough not to taken him up on his competitive "quote"...

If I could get the comfort of A/C back for the amount you mention plus the refilling I'd probably do it as I loved the A/C while it worked ....
