VW golf, indicators and wipers

Indicators and wipers keep going intermitantly, hazards work when wipers and indicators go which says to me its something to do with the dash wiring. Had a garage look at it and they told me the contacts needed to be cleaned, they cleaned them and it worked, until the next day when they went again. Any ideas?
