Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ducati second ride

Hi, new to boards.ie. Is there anyone else out there who just feels sick watching Melandri struggle with his Ducati? It's painful to see one of the most likeable guys in Moto GP for seconds slower than the mighty Stoner. A fast deflating career (more down to bike than rider) raises obvious questions about an emerging new second rider for Ducati Corse. Anyone any thoughts? Personally I'd like to see Hayden lay some rubber down in red, but with potential in Gibernau and an outside bet with Max Biaggi, it's all a bit confusing. It would be great to see Melandri stay and keep improving, but Moto GP is the pinacle and surely Melandri can't be contributing to an effective, quick development process at Ducati. I don't think Ducati will dive in with their 20 year old test rider. Too young. One thing is for sure, Melandri will be hampered in the future by his (perceived) underperformance at Ducati!

I don't think I'd like to see Gibernau back in Moto GP, there was just something too boring about him I think... tho I did find his battles with Rossi VERY entertaining :)

I think the Ducati needs to be ridden by a newbie with no experience of other Moto GP bikes. The Eurosport commentators always seem to say that "Stoner rides the Ducati the way it was designed to be riden". Seems he opens the throttle full blast mid corner and lets the bike sort it all out! Is it possible that Melandri just doesn't have the balls to do this?? lol.

Maybe it's a case that Ducati saw Stoner as the future when they saw him and built a bike to suit him.

It's a shame to see Marco struggle. He's a talented rider. All the Ducati's struggled at the start, even the customer team. It's strange that they have finally turned a corner but Marco still struggles.

At least he has the decency to hold his hands up and say 'Look, I'll step aside if they want me to.' It's his best option. Look for a new 09 ride and try to save his career

At best, stick Sete on the bike till the end of the year. Give him the rest of the year to see if he still has it. If he does, sure why not!

It's rough alright. Marco is a serious rider. There were some rumours that Hayden would get the second ducati (a straight swap would be interesting). He's wasting away at honda seeing as the bike is really built for the pedrobot. Gibernau could handle the ducati but he was way too easily freaked out. Rossi told him a couple of years ago that he'd never win another race after an incident on the grid in qatar. He didn't! Several riders have reported that the ducati's strange to ride. It doesn't work unless you throw it right up to the apex on the brakes and nail it from there. Elias or Guintoli can't get the hang of it either.
