Timberframe - Soundproofing

    Hi,

Looking at building a 3500sqft Detached Timberframe house.

The one concern that I have about going timberframe is the upstairs to downstairs soundproofing.

What is the best way to soundproof a timberframe house on:

    1. Ground Floor Ceiling
    2. Upstairs internal walls.

    Thanks,

    Mike.

Floors - rubber strip on joist, ply with rumbber sheet and finished t&g flooring, 75mm thick Rockwool sound quilt, between joist, double slab ceiling joists.

Walls - Rockwool quilt insulation between studs, double slab one side of stud wall.

    Ray,

    Thanks again.

How effective is this from a soundproofing aspect, versus solid precast floor on a concrete build?

    Mike.

Its a great improvement on standard construction.
Double slabbing is very good for sound.

It wouldn't be quite as good as a conc. bunker!
As usual there are advantages & disadvantages to both forms of construction.
