well, it was bound to happen:
    1. Govt find out Greens cost them a fortune in lost revenue at year's end, and Budget yanks the Green carpet (sic  ) and all rates get a big ratchet up in the Budget.....
    2. Mfrs start to move the goalposts.......e.g. Porsche. The 997 has been revised from this month, and new cars fitted now fitted with DFI and PDK (aka DSG) 7-speed gearbox. Result? Extra 20 bhp, more torque, avg fuel economy now 29.5mpg and, and this is the best bit: emissions now Band F - 225g/km. This means a reduction in annual road tax of Eur400 approx, down to 1k p.a. Damn ! :D

Naturally, no 1 hasn't happened yet..........but just you wait and see...........
No 2, though, has. Just a matter of time for all mfrs to get going on their workarounds...........dont ya just love technology ?

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I think they cant change it until the budget in Dec 09 at the earliest. Surely could not change it in Decembers budget this year?

It's all a tax racket covered in green simpering garbage.

Greens are the least able to combat climate change if it even exists. Clever bunch, taxing cars irrespective of miles travelled.

Fianna Fáil were happy just so they could raise taxes to waste on more construction buddies.

I presume they can and would be very surprised if they didn't. The govt need money - fast. Motorists have always been viewed as an ATM. Expect VRT rises from Jan 1st....

Exactly..........which is why you should always tax your car in .....November.......at least you (psychologically) get until the just before the next budget at last years rate........
