Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If John Cena was a woman, he'd wear that. I'm not a fan of it. Looks Like Beth Phoneix's logo.

Its not nice to me at all...

What is the point anyway? A divas belt!? A women's belt makes sense, but isn't there a difference to most fans between a wrestler and a diva in WWE?

A wrestler being Molly Holly, Jazz, Mickie James, Victoria, etc. and a Diva being Maryse, Ashley, and all the other useless hags that are a waste of WWE space?

    This whole idea sucks ass.

TBH, I don't hate, but I don't like it either! I think it's sad really, mainly because it looks like something out of a SmackDown! Vs. RAW video game, cos the main plate sticks out past the leather (or at least appears to)! A drop in quality from WWE!

just a thought but could this belt be aimed at the 'divas' on smackdown? seens the female wrestlers seem to be on raw & the divas seem to be on smackdown.

The belt probably comes free with a "My Little Pony" gift set

    Sweet lord almighty.

I was convinced Mickie was going to come over to SD, thus eliminating the need for the poorly-named Diva Title.

There simply aren't enough female wrestlers to warrant a second title. Like, seriously, you've got Nattie, Victoria, Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly (who isn't at all great but has improved a lot). Plus, we've seen a lot of womens wrestling on SD recently, so the matches won't be anything new.

    Bad, bad concept.

Interpromotional divas, or just move all the actual wrestler deivas to one roster, and keep the managers etc. spread out.

I think Cherry is my favourite SmackDown! "diva", which doesnt say much.

Am I the only one who doesn't think this is a bad idea?

Firstly, I like the idea of having a 2nd women's title, one on each brand. It will give WWE a chance to give more air time to women's wrestling and will also make the Smackdown women's division a lot more revelant and credible. I'll agree that calling it the "divas title" probably aint the best name; but in fairness, what else could they have called it? The smackdown women's title? At least by calling it the diva's title, it's pretty easy to differentiate it from the women's title on the Raw brand.

Secondly, I don't really understand what people's objection to the design of the title is? Fair enough, it's not in line with wrestling tradition; but neither is the swanton bomb, the canadian destroyer, or the TLC match. The simple fact is that times change and for any company to be sucessful, they need to change with the times even when it comes down to prop design. Also, if the belt looks flashy, it will appeal more to casual fans than a more traditional type strap (see Cena's spinner belt for example).

Are you referring to sports fans or smart marks? Sports fans generally don't buy the WWE merchandise; it's generally kids and casual fans from what i understand. Also, sports fans seem to be more interested in mma rather than in pro wrestling at this stage due to the realism and the natural drama of MMA, which imo cannot be replicated in pro wrestling. Given that, maybe sports fans aren't the best market for WWE to target at this point.

Little girls that love Bratz etc. will not be spending hundreds on a replica belt. I assure you. Casual fans don't buy the merchandise either. A casual fan may pick up a figure to sit on a shelf or something, its only really big WWE fans that buy replica items and collect divisions of WWE merchandise. This belt won't appeal to them. :(

My point was that the diva competition on SD is pretty much spent at this stage. The only thing we haven't seen is Michelle versus Natalya one on one. Whats more is women's wrestling is hardly being 'showcased' when the likes of kelly kelly and Cherry are in contention over a title. Now, I once thought the same thing after Trish and Lita left and Melina became champion, and I hope I'm proved wrong again.

Oh, I have nothing against innovative belt design. I loved the spinner US title. I do have something against bad design, tho, and I think this belt is poorly designed. It looks like something from (as someone else said) Bratz. Wrestling isn't usually so directly marketed at little girls.

Wrestling appeals to young boys though, so why not try to appeal to young girls too?

Sure, you can try. But (and this is just my opinion here) I think they're best off sticking to what they're good at. I mean, having a pink and purple belt isn't going to create an instant follwing. I'm guessing girls don't watch wrestling in larger numbers because its violent, and that is never going to change. I understand that having more female competition is a way of attracting a larger female audience, but we've already seen pretty much everything the ladies' division has to offer on SD.
