This tie was 4 all last year so a repeat would be nice! Laursen got 2 last year iirc :)

Ronaldo back on Wednesday- if the bugger scores watch the wildcards fly.

Down to 8th in Boards league from second, defenders let me down but Young, Bent and Laursen all to play tonight so I'll be climbing again.

I already have to money for him. Going to bring him in after Chelsea and I will then have a midfield of Ronaldo, Young, Deco & Arteta. :D

    That's pretty savage.

What's the rest of the team like.

I'll wait and see how ronnie plays on wednesday before making the choice to bring him in this week or not, one thing is certain though he IS coming in. I hate him but he's a points magnet.

Rest of the team would be Defense of Howard, Evra, Laursen, O'Brien and Hangelaand and a strikeforce of Defoe and Zaki. With a few cheap subs who'll probably get changed around depending on who getting a run during the season.

Wildcard used to accomodate Ronaldo and Fabregas. 14 changes in total!

    1: Hart
    2: Bosingwa
    3: Clichy
    4: Cole A
    5: Skrtel
    6: Ronaldo
    7: Fabregas (C)
    8: Alonso
    9: Berbatov
    10: Cole C
    11: Zaki
    12: Schwarzer
    13: Hamann
    14: Marney
    15: Brown W

Happy enough with that, one worry would be Utd vs Chelsea this weekend could stifle the points for half my team, but I figured changes had to be made now beofre the likes of Fabregas, Ronaldo, Berbatov etc went up in value. As you can see with Didi Hamann and Dean Marney I was scraping the barrell at the end!

Aaaarrrggghhh! Why did Ramos bench Bentley for the first-half? Wasted my damn captaincy.

Thankfully Ashley Young eased things a bit for me.

I'm going to get rid of Bentley me thinks. He's been a dud and I don't see him improving any time soon.

Except he picked up a stupid booking at the end

why wasn't carew awarded the assist for the first goal? the replay clearly shows he was the lasat player to touch the ball before it reached reo-coker

Got rid of him this week and got Arteta in instead and it was definatly a good decision!

Very good decision as Arteta has gone up a bit in value and I couldn't get him! I was able to get Wright-Phillips in though so I'm happy enough with that swap.

53 points is not a bad return considering my first 5 players got 12 points.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,815 ✭✭✭Charlie

46 points will do for this week, considering that on Sat evening, I knew that I would be fielding 8 players max, with Jonas, Beye, Torres, Dossena, and Geovanni all injured or benched. Arteta as Cpt. really got me out of a jam, and I am sitting well in most of my leagues.

Usually I make my transfers friday-ish, but I pulled the trigger tonight as I reckon certain valuations are going north fairly soon this week. On paper, next weekend's fixtures should allow my team to make a good fist of it.

I would love if people start creaming their budget on the Greasy One this week, only for him to come off the bench in the 80th min.

On Saturday I was sitting on 19 points and had dropped from 2nd in Boards way down to 36th.

Cue Arteta as Captain, Bent and Young scoring and Lauresen picking up three bonus points and I'm back up to third, second actually seeing as we have a new entry to the charts in second.

I'm planning on wholescale changes, though it's going to break my heart to bring Ronaldo in, I'll wait and see how he plays on Wednesday though. He's been out a while with a foot injury so his fitness level could be quite low.

    /raises hand

    Disastrous week.

I had a sorry looking bench with Vidic, Terry & Ballack. I've got Terry back now anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭Loco

used my wildcard. had a decent week but only due to Adebayor.

    cech
    ball-evra-boswinga-cliche
    ronaldo fabregas delap diarra hamman
    zaki adebayor davies

already regretting ball & davies decisions!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

Bit too early for Ronny, Ferguson was interviewed yesterday and says he only expects him to come in from the bench against Chelsea.

Had to, too many underperformers so wildcard had to come out.

Still, he has in the past made more impact in 10 mins than most players could do in a few weeks!

Don't worry, you can keep changing your Wildcard now until the next deadline which is Saturday morning :) No need for those regrets now! ;)

Edit: Sorry I got a bit confused, :pac: ignore my post then haha

I wasn't doing too bad (54 points on last matchday) but I've used my wildcard and gone midfield crazy.

    Hart

    N'Zogbia
    L Young
    Melchiot

    Lampard
    J.Cole
    Ronaldo
    Fabregas
    S.Reid

    Zaki
    Alves

    subs:
    Schmeichel
    Paintsil
    Barnett
    Harewood

That's a crazy midfield alright! The strikeforce will bag some good points aswell though :) Not sure about the defence but.

I'm happy with Hart and Young as they'll be good defensively. Newcastle might concede a few but N'Zogbia should get a few goals and assists since he's an attacking midfielder.

I don't think it'll be long before Zaki's form drops though.

Accidently used my wildcard on a single sub last week so decided to go nuts in order to take advantage of it. Ended up with the following:

    Reina

    Carra
    Laursen
    Clichy
    Wright Philips
    Arteta(c)
    Denilson
    Young
    Zaki
    Yakubu
    Ashton

Subs: Gordon, Carvalho, A. Cole and Giovani

Just gotta toy with the idea of whether to play A. Cole and Carvalho against United or not..

having Carvalho and Ashley C on the bench means an awful lot of money sitting on the bench every week. I would sell 1 of them and upgrade Denilson or Ashton cause he's always injured.

They are only on the bench at the moment as they are playing United this weekend.

I am 50:50 as to whether Chelsea will keep a clean sheet this weekend and end up with just appearence points whereas the other defenders are far more likely to to get more than just appearence points. Also, the midfielders and strikers are playing against lesser opposition so it is also more likely that they will get more than just appearence points.

    What would people think of.....

    James

    Gallas---Distin---Carragher

    Cesc---Arteta---Ronaldo---Delap

    Van Persie----Defoe

    Subs:Schwarzer,Barnett,Paintstil,Marney,Folan!!!

    ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    Wild card week obviously:D

Edit: Screw it....did it...but replaced Distin with Johnson!

Think Im going to hold off on my wild card till next weekend then bring in Ronaldo and make a couple of other minor changes.

Anyone considering making a Liverpool defender their Captain?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭Dingatron

Nah but I'd hope that they would keep a clean sheet. Half thinking of Gerard as captain. With him and Torres back I'd expect a few goals and assists between them at the weekend.

I somehow messed up my team and shuffled it enough(I've used my wildcard too) to the extent that I would have to take a large hit to bring Gerrard or Torres in. I've got Reina and Carragher and I'm tempted to gamble on a clean sheet.

Looks like a decent team except you only have 10 players and 5 subs??

Think il hold off on using my wildcard till after the chelsea game for ronaldo.

Whats a better combination Having Reina as a permanent keeper and Schwarzer or having two rotated keepers depending on the game they have with Green and Hart?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Well have you seen the subs?!....lol

I'll prob throw one of the defenders in depending on fixtures!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭Loco

how would you rate this line up for the weekend?
cant see it being bumper points with man utd playin chelsea.

    cech
    ball boswinga evra cliche figueroa
    reo-coker ronaldo fabregas
    zaki adebayor

    subs:
    davies hamman delap

reo-coker just scored for villa in the uefa cup, and most of the others in my selection seem on form too, bar fabregas and ronaldo. hope i used the wildcard effectively!
