Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

60 pts with 4 more to play. Good to see Ireland back in the points + Robbie Keane you legend :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Bad enough with the late Fulham goal, my choice of captains this week came down to a choice between Schwarzer - 2 points and Keane - 12.

    As against that pulled down some major bonus points - 16 points total ;
4 three points and 2 two points

66 points with Schwarzer (c) , Konchesky and Keane to play again aint bad but just get the feeling it was so closr to having been so much better.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,291 ✭✭✭eclectichoney

Ah no. beattie on the bench and he gets 9 points! :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,635 ✭✭✭tribulus

Ireland on the bench, need Andrews to get 5 in his next game to break even for that mistake.

Cole getting sent off stung a bit too. Though bringing in Keane was a good move :)

50 points with three to play again, come on Fulham!

I hate Hull. That is all.

oh ffs I didn't realise some teams have 2 games this week. I have no Sunderland, Fulham or Blackburn players so it would have been either Modric or Keane as my captain if I'd have known. :(

From an Irish point of view, great to see Whelan got 2 assists and 2 bonus tonight. 3 Irish started in their midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Hull are now on the list of enemies.

On a more positive note -

    Ireland - 2 bonus, 1 assist
    Konchesky - 3 bonus
    Ronaldo - 3 bonus
    Berbatov - Goal
    Baines - Clean sheet

47 overall but coulda been so much more.

Bloody Hull. 43 points so far but still have a few more to play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,568 ✭✭✭thewools

47 points so far with Modric, and 3 fulham players to play again.

Expected more to be honest... Leaving Beattie on the bench was a bad idea, Zaki is in terrible form at the moment! But I still expect a few goals from him any time soon :)

Anyone know how long Carlton Cole will be suspended for?

    2 yellows = 1 game I presume

    Half Empty

Benched Ireland for Cole. Cole gets sent off- Ireland has 8 point game.
HUll score late. Schwartzer goes from 12 to 4. for only Fulhams second home defeat of the season
Man City lose to West Ham and then bounce back to thump Villa without their best players?
Vidic misses open header and ends up on his arse in the back of the net.
Man of the match Lescott gets no Bonus points! wtf?
I don't have Robbie Keane and he's playing again!
My bench of Ireland, DiMichelle and Ashbee scored 8, 6 and 5 respectively.

    Half full:

Schwartzers two rivals for captain, Ronaldo and Lampard only score 5 and 4. Even no clean sheets and saves will match that.
Cole scored before his red card thus mitigating the loss.
James Beattie you sexy beastie :D
    4 defenders keep clean sheets.
Vidic is not sent off for his Karate Tackle.
Schwartzer and Davies to play again.
No-one around me had Keane as captain, (well, only one but the rest of his team is rubbish)
Rubbish average score of 39 this week
Score of 50 lifts me 40 places to 312th in world, 5th in Boards and in contention.

    There's always next week :D

They revised some of the bonus points. Lost 3 points from Konchesky. Still no BP for Keane. Bloody joke

Wow- that's some revision. One point addition moves me to 4th in Boards and up a massive 30 places overall to 277th

I see my wonder sub Ashbee picked up an additional bonus as did Lescott. I never remember them revising bouns points before.

FFS how can they say Cahill wasnt worth 3 bonus last night. He was outstanding.

And not only that, but he goes from 3 to 0. Why not give him 2 bonus and downgrade the people on 2 and 1 bonus to 1 and 0, respectively.

As my French teacher said before..."this is getting worser and worser"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

    I lost 6 points :mad::mad::mad:

Tim Cahill from three to zero
Koncheskey from three to zero

Also Robbie Keane didnt even get a point despite being involved in all four of Spurs goals

Pie-Eaters the lot of them, may they rot in Hell

In my opinion, I think we will be charged to play the game in the near future, with the money going to hire staff that don't pick bonus point choices randomly from a hat.

I'd gladly pay 25-30 euro to play for a season provided we get accurate scoring choices and some decent prizes at the end.

Agree totally... I could spare a few yoyos to play in a well run league with prizes and futher incentives!! :-)

I presume the site already get plenty of money from Budweiser as it is as - the amount of hits to the page every day would be huge. That would easily pay for the staff costs I presume.

Never knew they changed the bonus allocations until there didnt affect me but sure that is a bummer for the rest :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

Judging by the outragous bonus allocation all season my guess is that the programmers have their own teams and like to boost their players accordingly, and sure- "isn't it only a game"

There have been absolutely baffling bonus points this year.

Rooney getting three after getting injured within the first ten minutes comes to mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,714 ✭✭✭✭Earthhorse

Don't think they'll charge for use of the site. It's a huge PR tool for them; keeps people like myself, who wouldn't be that interested in football, well, interested in football. Also keeps people interested in teams outside the top 5. Dont' think it'd be worth their time to charge.

On another note I've seen them change bonus points before. Indeed, I believe it's happened already this season and was discussed on thread. Quite a few changes from last night though!

Outstanding because he is in your team?!

Did you even watch the match?

It was 0-0, and Ryan Nelson had Cahill in his pocket. All bonus points should go to both teams' defenders to be honest.

And how did Ronaldo get 3 points... Guittierez, Rooney, Berbatov, Martins, Park, Lovenkrands were all better

I watched 60 minutes and thought Cahill was involved in alot of their play.

You were probably focusing on him, and not watching the game properly, or perhaps you were viewing player-cam. He did nothing.

He got punished by Rovers defence. Normally he plays and wins the physical game but they gave him a taste of his own medicine last night.

  • Registered Users Posts: 731 ✭✭✭peterswellman

Right lads-Which combination do you prefer?

    A
    Cech, Ronaldo, A.Young, Rooney, Beattie.

    Or

    B

VDS, Gerrard, Cahill, Rooney and RVP.

It's a toss up between both.

Decision will probably be worth the league tbh. No pressure.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

I'd go Ronaldo, Cahill, Ronney, Beattie- look at the fixtures.

Felliani gets booked for stupid 'tackles'...

After the disaster that was making Schwarzer captain I've gone back to basics this week - Ronaldo.

    Schwarzer

    Bosingwa
    Baines
    Figueroa

    Ronaldo (c)
    Osman
    Ireland
    Nasri
    Young

    Berbatov
    Robinho

Subs: Myhill, Konchesky, Cole (suspended), Olsson.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

    Schwarzer

    --LYoung
    Clichy
    Konchesky
    ACole

    Ronaldo
    Cahill
    Ireland

    Keane
    Drogba (c)
    Beattie

Subs: Turnbulll, Delap, Olsson, De Ridder

So for the first week in ages I'm in the position of not having to firefight in terms of patching a team together. However I seem to have gone from the situation where I had very little choice to one where I have a lot and I'm a bit bamboolzed. Main reason is because I have 4.4 sitting in the bank. Not sure whether to upgrade in terms of first eleven or upgrade the bench.

    Any hints/tips/ideas?

    Beattie & Delap/Stoke - Boro(h), West Brom(a)
    Drogba & A Cole/Chelsea - Man City(h), Spurs (a), Newcastle (a)
    Keane/Spurs - Villa(a), Chelsea (h), Blackburn (a)
    Ronaldo/Man Utd - Liverpool (h), Fulham (a), Villa (h)
    Cahill/Everton - Stoke (h), Portsmouth(a), Wigan (h)
    Ireland/Man City - Chelsea(a), Sunderland(h), Arsenal (a)
    L Young/Villa - Spurs (h) Liverpool (a) Man Utd (a)
    Clichy/Arsenal - Blackburn (h) Newcastle Man (a) City (h)
    Schwarzer & Konchesky/Fulham - Bolton (a) Man Utd (h) Liverpool (h)

Yeah same here, thought I was being clever giving it to Schwarzer, ah well, I'll stick to my usual plan of not giving the captaincy to Defenders in future.

I'd be doubtful about giving the captaincy to Ronaldo this week though, Utd. v Pool matches are generally low scoring affairs.

And he never does it in the big games ;)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
