Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lost file on Laptop

If a file (18,000word microsoft word document) has been saved on a laptop and "disappears", can it be recovered?

It is only the one document that has gone. It was not manually deleted. Nothing else is wrong with the laptop.

If it has been erased from the HD is there any way to get it back?

    Any info appreciated.

    Cheers.

Well first thing is to do a search for files or folders in windows or Google desktop if you have it. To make sure its deleted.
If it is completely deleted and removed from the recycle bin it can still be gotten back though the fidelity of the file you might get etc. I am not sure.

Have you searched for it by name or by *.doc ?

you can also use an app like UNdelete that will attempt to recover files deleted by windows, but which may still be intact on the hard-disk.

also check text files in your temp folder, may still be there. could you hae renamed something by accedent? also do a search by all files modified since you last saved the file. check those files. make sure to check all files and folders as well as hidden and system files.
