Has anyone mentioned Terminator 2, when Schwarzenegger's on the motorcycle and there's a stunt, the stunt guy is a good deal darker! And Connor's stunt double is some creepy old guy...Something you'd notice on normal speed :D

Was there not a big one in Casino with the car bomb? The lad gets into the car, leans forward to turn the keys in the ignition. Cut to a wide shot, and there is clearly a dummy in the car, leaning back nonchalantly in a different colour jacket. Can't find a video of it at the minute but seem to remember it quite clearly.

In Shutter Island when 'Leo' climbs down the cliff to the cave. Clearly the stunt double has shorter, tighter, darker hair and is about 3onches taller than leo. Was actually funny i laughed, not the worst ive seen but it made me laugh so it counts.

"greatest movie mistakes" - utterly ruined a load of films for me.

i think it was face off, when nicholas cage is flying through the air after they crash the speedboat, quite obviously not him. not even close.

The Boom mics in shot I think it was 3 times in The Happening? Feck all else happening in that movie I can't think why he didn't catch this in editing.

Face/Off has the worst stunt doubles ever, still a great movie but jesus, you'd think they would have gotten guys who even almost looked like Travolta and Cage.

Best stunt double ever is Vic Armstrong, he could have been Indiana Jones himself

In Commando when Arnies just pulled the driver seat out of the red sports car, just as he's driving off you can clearly see the camera crew reflectected in the paintwork on the door of the car.
    Loved that one.

Another one from Commando is when Arnie is holding some guy over the edge of the cliff you can clearly see the safety wires are actually holding the guy up

While we're on the Commando theme. There's a scene at the mansion where Arnie throws grenades at enemy soldiers and as they explode and send them hurtling through the air you can see springboards emerging from the lawn launching them! :pac:

    Still an awesome film though

The original Nightmare on Elm street: Near the end where Freddie catches fire and falls from the 1st floor of the house to the staircase where is lands safely on a matress, has gained several pounds and is black (probly the fire suit tho). Low budget at its best.

In Braveheart when Mel goes to kill one of the traitorous Scotttish Lords by riding a horse into his bedroom and smashing his head with a ball and chain.
Slow it down and you can see that before the chain hits him, the actor is replaced by a grotesque doll! Quite funny.

At the end of Braveheart when the guys are running into Battle, you can see the Axehead flopping in the wind

Commando is a continuity clusterfcuk, but thats why I love it so much:D

Another good one I saw in the BBC3 prog was in Notting Hill. There's a woman crounched down comforting a little girl in the alleyway beside the shop. In loads of scenes they're there even they're meant to be a year apart.
In Fight Club Meat Loaf is running with a gang of other fellas, his trousers fall down and he hastily pulls them up.

Flicking around TV last night and Transformers was on, what a god awful film, anyways, in one scene a girl removes an SD card from a reader and deliberately turns it towards camera so "Panasonic" can be seen. Cringe!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭podgemonster

    How is that a goof?

    p.s. Transformers is Awesome!!!
    Autobots, Roll out!

Not necessarily a goof but goddamn awful directing in a goddamn awful film, as for the bird in it with the funny eyes? she's a head like a well chewed toffee.

Is that not an example of product placement ? ie not a goof but deliberate so the producers get money for advertising brands throughout the movie ?

The International - Was an absolute mess of a mvie anyway. But when Clive Owen and the banker are running around Istanbul..... actually sorry the banker is running and Clive Owen is doign his Terminator walking impression. What a stupid idea!!

Also in the same scenes you can clearly see all the 'extra's in wonder and awe at the cameras and actors. Bad.

A lot of the goofs mentioned in this thread and in the shows about them on tv are pedantic as hell. I know there's one where if you pause the Gladiator DVD and zoom in you can see a wrist watch on the hand of one of the background extras. It's like when watching war movies and someone will point out that the uniform worn by the character in 1944 is incorrect as that shade of green wasn't out till 1945. No one really cares.

well if u didn like it then dont watch it, its a leave your brain at the door movie. watch some arty foreign flick we subtitles instead.

Personally I think its awesome(57% rotten tomatoes, Megan Fox FHM top ten, 320 million in the box office). Directors need to use props in movies and if they get a few bucks from Coke or Bud or Sony along the way that means extra explosions!

plus i thought the director did very well to tell the story, the start of the movie was closer to a' boy and his first car' story rather transforming aliens.

Back to goofs: In pretty woman Gere and Roberts are having breakfast, one shot shes eating a pretzels, there a quick shot to gere, next shot shes in the same pose with a pancake in her hands, very obvious mistake!

Searched the thread and didn't come across this one...

Boromir heroically coming to aide the hobbits...Horn of Gondor bouncing about in a horribly distracting fashion

    Aaaaaannnnnnnddddd......gone!

I agree with your point and I made the similar one almost two years ago on this very thread, but most of the errors here aren't that pedantic, more continuity than anything else and if they distract from the movie then thats gonna suck!

The funniest one, one that I didn't notice until I watched that show the other night on BBC3 was at the end of Bruce Almighty.

When we see the homeless guy, the cafe behind him is called "FRANKIE'S". As it slowly zooms in on him, and he morphs into Morgan Freeman, the sign gets all jumbled with the two overlapped images, and turns into "NKIEANKIES" or something. :pac:

    Made me giggle.:o

Dunno if this one is mentioned? Jurassic park with the scene where the kids are trapped in the kitchen and the two raptors entered the one door and one snaps at the other? Well, one starts to fall over and clear as day, a hand with a digital watch appears and props him back up!

Disneys' Tarzan has two dead bodies hidden in the first scene with baby Tarzan being found by the gorilla- blood everywhere and two broken bodies, they're there, right in the corner!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

    Platoon

Elias's death - The blood squibs didnt go off but the scene was used anyways

Barnes's Death - T-Shirt is fine initially but is completely shredded in another shot

transformers reveneg of the fallen is one complete goof. Continuity issues are everywhere (teleporting from virginnia to california in one scene, from a city to a forest etc etc) characters teleport around the scene in the blocking and not to mention the countless script errors (misidentifying locations and counting the wrong number of decepticons on the radar etc.).

Duh! I know what product placement is but when the "actress" practically holds it up to the camera so the brand can be seen is just pure bad film making.

One that always really bothered me:
Con Air when Cyrus the Virus is fighting Poe on the fire-truck. Poe handcuffs him, raises the ladder, and Cyrus goes through the windows of a walk-way that was over the street

You can even see the fire-truck passing under him as he flies out the other side.

Now, tell me, how did he land on a conveyor belt that crushed rocks?

Actually, see for yourself from 2:50

Foreign flick you say? How about an American one?

My favourite goof is when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli meet the riders of Rohan in the Two Towers. As the main Rohan rider guy mounts his horse his sword clearly slips from his scabbard.
