I have a 3 broadband modem. My mobile broadband contract ends at the end of the month and I am not renewing it as I have fixed line broadband at home now. I would like to keep some mobile broadband capability, is there some way I can continue to use it in some way as Pay As You Go?
I rang 3 and they say I would have to purchase a new modem @ 99 euro!!!

you don't have to buy a modem. You can just get a payg sim card for ten euro. Then you can buy an add on for 25 a month for 10gb, same as the modem deal. Only 3 stores sell the sim cards, not cpw etc

Someone elses Mobile Internet SIM won't work without unlocking the Modem.

I believe its locked to the Network ID, not to the SIM.
We swap vodafone sims between different UMTS cards all the time where i work .

I meant a different operator's SIM, not a different SIM from same operator.
