Yup, now it is dead. Predictably the Greens are pretty annoyed, but it just goes to show that the Greens get confused between jealousy and the environment(the ex-mayor's own consultants actually said that the £25 charge would be worse for the environment than the current £8 charge).

A rare victory for the car and most of all common sense these days. The sooner the Tory party gets in power in the UK the better.

    Story here.

Johnson had committed not to introduce the £25 charge in his original mayoral manifesto
    This is the reason imo.
In particular, the German sports car maker had cited evidence from Kings College, stating that the £25 charge would actually increase overall CO2 emissions in the capital.
Alas, no link to this evidence.
Porsche is proud to have played a decisive role in striking down such a blatantly political tax increase targeting motorists
Just big cars, not all motorists

Utter morons bereft of any moral compass or integrity, opening incredibly dangerous waste stations while smacking the middle classes for driving cars at all (a mere 19% of emissions are from road transport, including the trucks, which emit the vast majority of it)

Absolutely 100% agree with you. New Labour have let GB turn into a monster state with no self-respect or identity. We are in danger of doing the same, should FF remain in power, pandering away to the Greens as well.

Kings College were the people that were commissioned to do the report on the environmental impact of the proposed £25 c-charge. Their report was leaked on the internet some time back, because Red Ken refused to release the report when he knew that his proposal.

    Anyway here is the leak.
