Bike storage area at front of house

I'll soon be moving to a new home. There is no access to the back of the house other than through the main hallway & kitchen. To avoid dragging mud through the hall, I'd like to store my (pedal) bike in front of the house, but protect it from the elements.

Is there any sort of enclosure which can be located in a front drive without requiring explicit planning permission? Something big enough to take three standard bikes, and with secure access, would be ideal.

Would a large dog kennel qualify?

Thanks Neverends -- the garden sheds are a bit tall, but the "Garden store" looks close to what I had in mind.

I'll just need to check the dimensions against an actual bike to see if it will fit okay (might be a tiny bit tight on the height.)

I've been looking at that Garden Store too and have the same worries as you as regards the height.

If you find anything similar with an extra 10-12 inches in height, I'd be pleased to know where!

(no affiliation; I found it while I was looking up metal garden sheds for the back garden.)

Why don't you get a local steel works lad to make something for you. You'd be guaranteed it would be bulletproof and made exactly the way you want it.

I would like to ask a new question in this topic.

I live in Galway and have a similar problem, mid terraced house and use the (pedal) bike to go everywhere. So I am thinking about building/getting a shed to the front yard, but I am not sure whether I'd need planning permission to build a bicycle shed in the front yard (or get it built by someone). If I do need a planning permission, do you know how to start the process of getting one, what do I need for that, etc.? Also I am curious: what are my chances of getting yes for an answer?

Sheds are exempt from planing up to 20ft x 13.5ft by no higher then 4 meters. Look into the shed packs from b&q I bought a 4 ft x 6 ft shed from them for around €135 can fit upto 4 bikes and still have room for the odd tool, just have to get a better latch for it as the one that comes with it is onle thin wire. Hope this helps.
