Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dundalk have announced the signing of Derek Doyle from UCD , I'm very happy with that signing !

What do the UCD boys think of it ?
You obviously haven't seen him play before, he's crap. Has no attributes of a winger, could be decent if tried upfront though.

Not a rumour. He will sign on Monday. Big question is where will he be Saturday week?

Also,a kid, Billy Dennehy, a left sided defender, released from Sunderland, has signed for City.

He was a winger. Unless he's moved back.

His younger brother Darren Dennehy is an Irish U-21 who signed with Cardiff from Everton this summer, even though he was the only reserve offered a new contract.

My source has let me down , well not really . What has happened is that Sporting Fingal have offered Dessie baker CRAZY MONEY and a FULL TIME contract. Again this is according to my source so could be wrong.

So what's going on has Baker signed for Dundalk or what? His wiki is already updated saying his current team are Dundalk. Someone seems confident enough.

EDIt: I see it's on the website now.

By Daniel McDonnell and Neil Ahern

    Thursday July 31 2008

Striker John Murphy completed a medical with St Patrick's Athletic last night, however, Joseph Ndo's loan move from Inchicore collapsed, WRITE DANIEL McDONNELL AND NEIL AHERN.

Shamrock Rovers had looked certain to capture the Cameroon midfielder until the end of the season, however, the move fell through at the eleventh hour last night although there are hopes that the deal may be resurrected ahead of tonight's deadline.

Three players did leave Inchicore yesterday as Sporting Fingal snapped up Brendan Clarke, Noel Haverty and John Frost on loan for the rest of this campaign. Rumours surfaced yesterday that Gary O'Neill could also be on his way out of Inchicore to join Bohemians, but while he has rejected the offer of a new contract with the Saints, they will not let him go anywhere until the end of the year.

Rovers have sent Dessie Baker on loan to Dundalk, while boss Pat Scully has refused to let Stephen Rice join Fingal on loan.

The transfer window closes at midnight tonight with Bohemians set to sign Brendan McGill while defender Regi Nooitmeer is likely to link up with Drogheda after his release from Galway. Tribesmen boss Jeff Kenna is hoping to bring in two players -- one of whom is a Danish striker.

According to this, it's a done deal.

The Rovers website have confirmed it too:
Joseph Ndo has signed for Rovers from St Patricks Athletic. Shamrock Rovers FC welcomes Joseph to the Hoops. The midfielder will join the squad with immediate effect on a loan deal until the end of the season.

    I'm worried about Ndo, tbh.

How will Joseph's driven, highly focused, win-at-all-costs mentality sit with Pat Scully's affable, hands-off managerial approach?

Torpedo making some good signings actually.

    But some very worrying developments.

Apparently players are being given part-time playing contracts, but also being given full-time "club jobs".

It's clearly an attempt to circumvent the 65% rule.

Thats what Emma Byrne has at Arsenal. Plays for the ladies team and also works for the club.
As long as they are actually doing meaningful work in their other role at the club, there isn't really a problem.

How long before Dundalk make some huge signings with the lure of playing for the town as a semi-pro and working as a welder with Gerry Matthews, part-time??!!

Are Arsenal doing it to circumnavigate a wage cap applied by the FA?

Fingal have added Paul Byrne from UCD. If he gets the finger out he will be unbelievably good for the First Division- definitely PD standard.

Are there any players left in the EL who haven't signed for Fingal? What is the deal with those lads? Are they trying to set a record for using as many players as possible in one season?

We've only signed four players at the moment. Not that many.

Ndo is saying all the right things and if he doenst, he is back to Inchicore before you can say 'lazy get'. And minus his match fee bonus. Risk free for Rovers.

Pats were so desperate to get rid of him, they are picking up his wages and paying for his car..... Another great bit of business by the Rovers board.
