Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ubuntu/Linux driver question

    Hi,

I'm quite new to Linux, having only really "messed around" with it before.
I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop as the live CD looked, and worked great.

I had problems with my display driver, but managed to update the standard vesa driver to the openchrome one for via chipsets.

The (last) problem I'm having is with my audio. From I've what I've found out, i need "snd-via82xx" but I can't find this with snyaptic, and apt-get can't find the package/module/driver either.

Also, my list of linux commands is quite limited, so I'm sort of stuck even trying to find out information. There was an audio command which returned two results, I expected to see my hardware listed there too, but it wasnt

If I do an lspci, the audio hardware shows up, but no where else.

How do I get a list of installed drivers, or detected hardware that doesn't have a driver?

The live CD audio worked fine! Could I possibly copy that? How would I find out what driver it was using?

Thanks for any help ye may have
