I've had my 206 for over a year now and I know the steering was never very solid as its a small car.

But recently I've found the steering feels alot lighter than normal! On normal roads shes fine but on say county roads it just dosent feel the way it used to!

Im pretty sure its not the tracking cos Ive had that fixed plenty of times before and know when its gone just wondering if anyone know whats wrong or it just meant to be like this?

    hope someone can help:D

    Amz

    tyre pressure? power steering fluid?
would the steering being lighter not be a good thing?

    The best place to start.

Not always, lighter steering could indicate less resistance at the road wheel. Over-inflation of tyre would be a good example that makes the steering lighter, but results in substantially less grip between the tyre and the road surface.

No there all around 32 and power steering fluid is full! no its really bad like driving on crappier roads and when ure going fairly fast its can be a bit scary just dosent feel very stable! you'd think it would be good having it lighter but it was light enough as it was ya kno:(

Have it checked if you don't feel as safe as previously. Something mechanical may be worn.

My advice is have the suspension looked at.

Yeah good Idea, that will probably be expensive If its the suspension!!:( But better safe than sorry!! I just thought maybe since its a small car its not meant to be so rouged! still it doesn't feel 100% so thats why im asking! thanks for your advice:)

sounds like your front shocks but i'm certainly no mechanic and am just having a logical guess
+1 on getting it looked at asap
i used to have a 206 and found my main dealer to be helpful (in terms of extending the warrenty by a couple of months to facilitate a repair) thats depending how old it is of course

Does the steering feel kinda vague and not as precise as it was before? Sounds like wishbone bushings.

Ive a much bigger problem now!! my mechanic lost the key to unlock my alloys and they cant be removed! it seems that the break pads on the left is almost completely worn out and the right one was pretty full so tis kinda weird but the place I brought it to cudnt do nemore without removing the tires!so Im stuck in a rut now:(

Then get your mechanic to buy a lock nut removal tool like in the link below. They can be got in different sizes. Using the air gun in reverse it threads onto the lock nut and opens it.

Wishbones. Guaranteed. Only evident intitially on bad roads, but appears to be fine on good roads. Replacements can be expensive (€400??) due to labour costs. Has to be fixed as it will only get worse to the extent that driving becomes hazardous.

€400!!! I replaced 2 wishbone bushings for an escort I bought last week, €8 each!
