    Can anyone recommend a comprehensive Dog Encyclopedia with good/ large photos and info. Cheers.

    Bruce Fogle has a couple of good ones, the largest one has some good photos and includes some more unusual breeds.
    Desmond Morris has a collosal book of breeds, no photos, but nice black and white drawings.
    I refuse to buy another Bruce Fogle book on ethical grounds; by doing so you may be directly contributing to his sons (Ben Fogle, the prat that covers crufts for the BBC) inheritance!!
