Pre employment medical

Hi all,

I'm about to start a new job in the next few weeks and they have asked me to take a pre-employment medical. I rang the doctor they have asked me to see and he has told me that it will involve a urine test (and "so don't pee before you come to see me ).

Two questions:

1. Can I defer to my own doctor about this?
2. Will he test for substances that are a bit, illegally...?

i think they do check for marijuna (sic), which i guess is what you're asking. Here's a sample question asked on Yahoo! UK Answers:

Generally no, because it'd be too easy for someone's own GP to cover up some awkward result because he/she has known the potential employee for years.

Quite possibly yes from my understanding.
