Is there anywhere to call for info on grants?
what I want to find out is: i've never been elidgable for a grant, but is the reckonable income limit still the same if you live at home but your parents have separated in the last year?
and if i decide to move out in the next acedamic year, do i still count my parents income or only my own?

    cheers

Essentially your local Council or VEC will be the people administering the scheme, and they're the ones who can best advise about separated parents and income limints.

As for whether you decide to move out, it really depends on what category you're in - if you're under 23, you will still be assessed on your parents' income. You are 'assigned' a category when you enter college. The three categories are:

    Mature Independent
    Mature Dependent
    Other

And only Mature Independent candidates are, at the moment, assessed on their own income (and their spouse's, if applicable). There are plans for a fourth category to cover under 23s who are independent, but I don't think that's coming in until 2009/10.
