Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi lads am using Cheapticket.com for the above, am flying Cork London with Aerlingus and London ,Washigton, Tampa with United Airlines. Does anyone know what luggage allowance I am allowed on the Cork London leg and in particular on the return leg London Cork as I will be doing a lot of shopping I hope. Is it the standard 1x20 kg or do they take into account that you are flying internationally.
Also if anyone has used cheaptickets can you book in your luggage online
    Many thanks

    :P

Good to see that some people are getting good deals. I still have not benn charged the full amount on the credit card.....why would they only charge a small amount and then nothing more....

With the fuel surcharge thing, I hope to feck they do no try and charge that later

Great deal this, i also availed of New york flights in November. Anyone been before, or have any ideas whats a good but reasonable hotel. The few i looked at were $300 + per night.

Do some research on using priceline.com, on this site you can bid for hotel rooms, there are some forums dedicated to the subject. For example last December I got a room in a four star Hilton in San Francisco for $85 per night!

When you get the "Your Travel Document" does that mean your confirmed. I only got an AerLingus record locator should that do for all the flights? even though most of the trip is with BA.
    Cheers
And thanks teresasaunt for pointing this great bargain out for everyone.

Ed can I ask how you bid for the hotel on priceline? When i try to bid it is insisting on a US or Canada address.

    Thanks.

do ye think there'll be a further sale between now and Nov/December?

  • Registered Users Posts: 137 ✭✭teresasaunt

This isn't really a sale... and you'll never get cheaper than €200 for a TATL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,368 ✭✭✭madmoe

Make sure to always click right through as you do not see the reduction\cheaper fares until you do that.

You obviously haven't read the thread, it hasn't been about the Aer Lingus sale in ages, it's now about a better deal that seems to be ongoing.

I've been seeing these fares for the last few weeks - dunno why I didn't post it here until this week!

It seems on some of these fares the fuel surcharge isn't included... don't know why BA haven't noticed this yet.

I just checked the cheaptickets.com FAQ and it states: https://faq.cheaptickets.com/cgi-bin/cheaptickets_faq.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=334&p_sid=RsySio9j&search=1

"CheapTickets Package prices include taxes and service fees, but additional fuel and security surcharges may be charged by the Travel Supplier at time of check-in/pick-up. These additional charges, even on paid reservations, are your responsibility."

So anyone who has booked really cheap tickets should check with their Airline(s) that they won't face additional fees on check-in (or at least be aware of it).

    I also note: https://faq.cheaptickets.com/cgi-bin/cheaptickets_faq.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=RsySio9j&search=1&p_faqid=255

"All of our prices are listed with the taxes, fees and service charges listed. By doing this, you can have the most accurate pricing information up front to help make well-informed decisions.
We also add most fees into our pricing, including airport access fees and customer facility charges.

Our prices do not include extra options you request, such as upgrades and special equipment, fees charged by the travel supplier when you arrive at your destination, like resort fees and energy surcharges; or airline baggage charges."

    But also see this:

    http://www.cheaptickets.com/pagedef/content/legal/airTaxesFees.jsp?popupsDisabled=false

"Flight Cost Summary: On the Flight Cost Summary page, and all subsequent pages leading to a booking, all taxes, charges (including fuel surcharges), service fees, and government and airport authority fees are either included in the fare or itemized separately to provide a total trip cost "

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,368 ✭✭✭madmoe

Guys, just checked the credit card account and the full cost has now showed up, one flight was €275 (DUB->LHR->LAX, SFO->LHR->DUB) the other €415 (DUB->LHR->LAX, SFO->LHR->DUB) a week later.

Just tried booking to NY for end of October, and offer seems to be gone on cheapflights.com.
Also, I hope there isnt a fuel charge coming at us at the airport, interrested to hear from BA.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I got around the problem by inserting most of my address plus a Canadian State and postal code. I have used the service twice and have had no problems, the booking is valid once the payment is accepted. Check out http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/ for good tips etc. Good Luck

Thanks for the link to the forum on priceline always thought about using but got a bit worried about getting stuck with a dump. Do you have the option to turn down a hotel they offer?

Well folks there it goes, the offer of the century has passed.

I highly doubt that you'll ever see trans Atlantic fares at that price ever again!
Well done to everyone who booked this great deal, unforunately for me I had already booked too many holidays before Christmas!

There are still pretty good deals to be had to NYC from €330 and other parts in the States in September which is far better than the traditional booking sites.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

On the verge of booking of a trip to NY from the 2-14 September on Cheaptickets.com, i get a price of 540 dollars which is about 346 Euro. Have people on here got a similiar low price to the US and had no problems??

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

For those flying with Aer Lingus/BA.....can you verify your itinery online with BA and Aer Lingus? I have the Aer Lingus reference number but not sure what email address to use.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭Glos

    Kazzer,
Ring Aer Lingus, quote your EI locator number number and they will be able to give you the BA locator number.
With that number, you can use the online BA 'Manage your Booking' service.

What type pf hotel did u get, an what sort of money. Wanted to look f0r a 3 star in nw york in november, in the time square area. What type of bid is likely to be successful. Never used priceline before, so a bit nervous about giving cr card details etc without knowingwhat hotel i am getting.

I was like yourself but have a read of this site below and it should tell you everything you need to know. They only have a set number of hotels in each area so you can kinda know which one you may be getting.
    http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/directory

    I got a 4 star(or 5 star depending where you read) in Orlando for around 800 euros for 12 nights(normal price was 1600+ euro). I bid $92 a night

Its well worth looking into corkie.

Has anyoen actually used them yet or in the past?

I have without problems. you have to remember you are not in fact paying them, you only pay them a small handling fee,,
and you can confirm your bookings directly with the carriers..
in my case aer fungus took the full amount and then pass on the money to Virgin. its standard practice for this type of thing..

    As DingDong said it's cheaptickets.com.

All they're doing is taking your money and passing it on to the airlines (with a small commission). You don't have any dealings with them after that, you deal with the airline.

You should also look at orbitz.com, kayak.com etc as they all provide the same service and prices vary.

FYI for anyone already booked through Cheaptickets

British Airways have changed some of their winter schedule for flights after November 2nd.
In particular, LAX flights, but others may be affected.
As a result your previously booked flight may have been cancelled or re-scheduled or both.
You may or may not get notified by Cheaptickets.com so it's well worth checking with your BA locator number on BA web site.

Cheaptickets eventually got me moved onto an earlier Aer Lingus flight to accomodate the BA schedule change but it took a lot of 'discussion' with them.
However, is my understanding that they are obliged to reschedule/accomodate you on other flights, free of any charge, as the result of any schedule changes causing you missed connections.
