Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I still don't think hes much use, but his recent performances definitely havent warranted anything like the criticism his performances early to mid last season did. He still has a hell of alot to prove for me to view him as a first choice player, but he has improved alot.
Fair enough, on paper he may not be an automatic starter. But on the pitch, he's doing the biz, even if some of his job is to let Barry play (MON stated as much in the last few days).

If he keeps up solid, if often unattractive, displays, he'll be difficult to drop.

I still reckon ReoCoker can do Petrov's job better, and that Milner can do ReoCoker's job better. But no need to change the team around while we're doing well anyway.

While probably true about Milner, I think Petrov beats NRC hands down for distribution alone.

Agree with that. Hard to compare the players. Petrov has good composure on the ball and is a better passer whereas NRC has the energy and drive Petrov lacks. But while we keep playing well, there is no need to change bar injury or rotation.

Its great to have some competition in the midfield. Perov vs Reo Coker is an obvious headache- Don't fix what isn't broken applies- but I do have a prob with Milner sitting on a bench, he's an out n out r winger exactly what we've been crying out for and he still insists on playing Reo Coker there??? I know he scored but come on he's no where near up to it in that position, his distribution is woeful!! I'd love to see Delfonso get some game time asap- Gabby and Harewood, oh no- not good!

I'm actually happy at the strange kick off time, means I get to watch the game and go to training.

Obviously these lovek lads are gonna be up for this match and not up to much talent wise, therefor i'd love to see a squad team if you get me, (Ashley Young is out with a knee injury according to yahoo sports):

    Fonze
    Balou
    Barry
    Sidwell
    Reo-Coker/Gardner
    Milner
    Shorey
    Cueller
    Davies
    Young/Gardner
    Brad F.

    Is Sidwell fit again?
Deffo wanna see an appearance from Cueller.

anyone got any Radio links for this since im in work and watching football would be frowned upon... unless!

Yeah I'm also chuffed, heading to Dundalk for the Shels match so I'll be able to catch both now. Really should be a heavy victory. Even with the trip to Eastern Europe.

not sure i could see the hare and fonz working together tbh

For the game, I'd like to see

    Agabonlahor
    Harewood\Fonze
    Routledge
    Barry
    Reo-Coker\Sidwell
    Milner
    Shorey
    Laursen
    Culleur
    Young
    Brad F.

with Routeledge and Milner swaping sides throughout.

But I think we're more likely to get

    Agabonlahor

    Milner--
    Barry
    Petrov----Reo-Croker
    Shorey
    Laursen
    Culleur
    Young
    Brad F.

I would have thought Young would be given a free role behind Gabby with Milner and taking Youngs place on the wing?

Looking at your choice of teams got me thinking our second 11 aint all that bad now.

    Guzan
    Gardner Shorey/ O'Halloran

    Knight Cuellar/ Davis

    Milner Routledge

    Sidwell Osbourne/ Salifou

    Delfonino Harewood

This is off course my 2nd string based on how well the other guys done against spurs!

    Team confirmation:
    Litex Lovech v VILLA

Carlos Cuellar is set for his debut this afternoon as Villa make three changes from the side that beat Tottenham.

Cuellar replaces Curtis Davies, Craig Gardner is in for John Carew while James Milner takes Ashley Young's place.

VILLA: Friedel; Young, Cuellar, Laursen (c), Shorey; Gardner, Barry, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Milner; Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Knight, Salifou, Osbourne, Routledge, Harewood, Delfouneso.

Stay tuned to www.avfc.co.uk for updates.

    I expect it to be

    Friedel
    Young
    Cuellar----Laursen (c)----Shorey
    Reo-Coker---Gardner---Petrov
    Barry
    Milner
    Agbonlahor

Maybe with Barry pushed forward into more of a 4-3-2-1 formation.

Which is pretty close to what I had posted before, except I've only just realised that I only had 10 players last time :o

    Go Villa!

Thankfully now we're seeing the fruits of the summer transfer window in that with Young & Carew missing it isnt a full blown crisis. Im really looking forward to seeing Cuellar playing.

Thursday afternoon KO is the business, although not having Channel 5 is annoying, TV3 are showing the Spuds game tonite, could they not have snapped up the rights cheaply to this and show it instead of whatever mindnumbing day time dross they are no doubt showing?.

    I'd personally favour:

    Friedel

    -Young----Cuellar----Laursen----Shorey

    Reo-Coker

    Gardner---Petrov---Barry

    Milner

    Agbonlahor

with Milner in a free role in the hole behind Aggy.

But I suspect MON will play something closer to what you have in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

LOL at Reo-Coker, barking orders around the pitch during the substitutions before realising it was him being subbed. He clearly mouths "who me?" and starts to leg it towards the sideline! lol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

Bloody Harewood again... two sitters missed in as many games..
