There is a public meeting organised by the Churchtown Residence Association in Taney Parish Hall, Taney Road tonight at 8 o'clock in relation to the planned development of the old Dundrum Shopping Centre as Phase 2 of the Dundrum Town Centre. The Association have arranged the presence of representatives of the developer, Lendridge Properties, to outline their plans, which include a 9 story hotel located at the Sweetmount end of the site and to answer questions. All are welcome

For anyone interested went to this prepared for the worst but seeing the proposed development digitally rendered really brings home the monstrous nature of what Lendridge wants to do. The bull**** reasoning for the major changes from the original plans is the council want a large department store located in phase two, the hotel must be moved and increased in height to 9 stories, thats 90 metres or twice the height of the EBS building - almost as high as the Luas bridge pylon, to accommodate this. Sweetmount will be ruined. There will be a shortfall of at least 35% parking spaces. If you think the traffic is bad now you ain't seen nothing yet. Also running up the village, sorry Town, the height has been increased from two to four stories because the architect feels it looks better, it doesn't.
Hopefully the developers will not be able to meet the councils requirements(very unlikely), Bord Pleanala will reject it(unlikely) or the economy will continue to tank and make it not worth the developers while(quite likely:))
When asked about anything that effected residents either its either the councils fault or the developers reps would stare blankly at a spot at the back of the room. Quite frankly their performance was nauseating

You just resurected a three year old thread. Given that the developer Joe O'Reilly is in NAMA as he can't pay his debts on his current developments, it is unlikely that he'll have any funding available to develop phase 2 for quite some time.
