Welcome back! Some how I think there were a few deja vu clues today, 8 D and 11 D sound very familiar !

  • Registered Users Posts: 442 ✭✭bothyhead

Yeah, 8d came up 5 or 6 weeks ago.

    10a -
    grounded

11a - I had a spelling mistake, it should be
    carat

I've hit the wall with the rest of them.

    30a might be
    neat
, though I'm not too happy with it.
A neat whiskey = without water?

    Definitely
    newt
    .
    'Fresh' = new, plus 'T', and a newt is a water-dwelling creature.

I´m currently on holidays and after spending a ridiclulous 3.75 on the Times today I thought I might as well make it worthwhile by finishing the Crosaire - I´m missing a few though so any help would be appreciated as always!

Good to see that we are getting back on "air" I have a problem with 27 A "unmanured" does the word exist? Also find it hard to reconsile it with the clue. you Commie =ured, but the beginning is beyond me!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,534 ✭✭✭FruitLover

Yeah, I didn't like this one either. I suppose you could find a loose connection between 'un-man' and an animal of some sort, and cow ties in with manure, but it's pretty iffy.

This is quite off-topic, but didn't think it was worth starting a whole new thread. A friend and I have got the Phoenix Magazine Christmas Crossword down to one final clue. The clue is:
"sounds as though one chooses to put host in it".
    And the letters are _y_
Should be obvious, have considered every possible answer, and just can't get one to fit. Any ideas would be welcomed.
