Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vicente del Bosque takes charge

Good news for Spain I think.

While Aregones saw his side win euro 2008, I can't help but think any decent top level coach could have got the same result with that squad. The way del Bosque was done over by Real was outrageous (and it backfired) so I'm sure he can look forward to acclaim in the next two years (who would bet against them doing the double?).

    Mike.

agree completely with what you've said. Spain imo are in a much better position now to challenge for the WC than under Aragones (who despite his recent success, acted the clown during most of his tenure). It shouldn't take Del Bosque four years to figure out his best team.

It would have been great news if he was offered the job back in 2004, instead of Aragones, but he hasn't done anything of note since his spell with Madrid that ended in 2003. They've got the players though and as long as Del Bosque can get them unified (winning the Euros will have really helped this) and get them playing to their strengths, they'll definitely be in with a shout at the next World Cup. Unfortunately though, I think the winners will come from South America.
