Check this out I just saw the post on the Bodytonic Forum...
Surely gonna be the best gig to ever hit the Student Bar!!!!:):):)

Vitalic to Play UCD Student Bar – Friday 26th September

French electro superstar Vitalic has been confirmed to play the UCD Student Bar on Friday 26th September – adding to the long list of world class electro acts that have played in the venue over the past 3 years – Justice, Jacques Le Cont, Digitalism, Lektroluv, Erol Alkan, Felix da Housecat to name a few!

As ever the gig is open to the general public and tickets priced €15 will be available shortly from UCDEnts.com and all Students’ Union shops in UCD.

Additional information including stage times and support acts will be posted at a later date. Watch this space…

Here is a brief biography on the DJ…

    Biography
Vitalic is the alter ego of Pascal Arbez, a French programmer/multi-instrumentalist who blends electro, techno, and house -- as well as elements of classical, rock, Italo-disco, and '70s electronic music -- into a sound that recalls the work of fellow countrymen Daft Punk and Air, but has its own hard-edged playfulness. Arbez played trombone as a child and young adult, but became fascinated with dance music when he heard Daft Punk in the mid-'90s. Inspired by them as well as Giorgio Moroder, Arbez switched to analog synths and began writing and recording as Dima. He released his first 12" in 1996 on Citizen Records, a label started by Arbez and likeminded friends. Arbez used the Dima moniker (as well as the alias Hustler Pornstar) until 2000, when he switched to the name Vitalic.

After sending a demo to International DJ Gigolo, the label released Vitalic's Poney EP in 2001. The EP's expansive yet hard-hitting sound made its three tracks staples in sets by DJs as varied as Aphex Twin, Princess Superstar, and 2 Many DJ's. However, despite some collaborations and remixes, Arbez took a while to release any new Vitalic material. The Fanfares EP arrived late in 2004, signaling a heavier, less atmospheric bent to Arbez's work than the Poney EP; spring 2005 saw the release of the single My Friend Dario, by far the poppiest Vitalic track yet. Most of Vitalic's key singles and tracks were collected on the long-awaited debut album OK Cowboy (the title of which alluded to Vitalic's maverick stance and Arbez's preference to live in the French countryside), which arrived in Europe later that spring and was released in the U.S. that summer. Early in 2007, the mix album The Sound of Citizen -- which included tracks by Arbez's inspirations as well as artists on the Citizen roster -- was released. Late that year V Live arrived.

Will be a great gig alright though 'best gig to ever hit the student bar' might be a bit of sensationalism in action there. In fairnes they tend to get the creme de le creme of commerical techno/house in (Erol Alkan, Felix da Houseat, Jacques le Cont, Justice from the last year or two).

Vengaboys (god help us all) are on freshers week... However, the week itself loos to be shaping up very very nicely from what I've been hearing

    FAR FAR more importantly...

Bob Marley's band the Wailers (16 piece band) are in the bar October 7th to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Exodus album (Time magazines album of the century) signing songs such as I shot The Sheriff, Jamming, No Women No Cry etc...

The Wailers that will savage :o

Exodus is one of the best albums ever made too. Always voted in or around the top ten albums of the century...

I cant imagine too many of the original band members are left exodus was 1977!!! I wonder is Ziggy Marley gonna be with them? as in Bob's son.. Apperently he plays with them sometimes...

Vengaboys is so lame it may actually be amusing:D

Saw Vitalic in March and he was amazing, so this should be great, especially at €15!

Anyone know if the student bar are strict on checking ID?

Student ID or ID in general?

They tend to be strict enough on both, but in saying that there's no problem going along with someone from UCD if you're not a student here.

Buying the ticket online I think still needs a student card though, and you have to have that card with you on the night.

ID in general, as I'm only 17. It shouldn't be much bother though as I can usually get in most places with my fake ID. Also, it says tickets are on sale to the general public.

Wouldnt agree with that, Lu Cont 2 or 3 years ago would have to be the best but will be pretty savage. Not mad on the crowds those gigs get though.

Where are those 16 members of The Wailers gonna fit! Can't wait for that
