Don’t have internet at home anymore so looking to bring my laptop somewhere.
I know I can use an internet café but I just want to use the laptop so I can download some short videos and update my podcasts in itunes.

I used to go to McDonalds but they only give a voucher for 30 minutes. I offer to buy something else like bottled water but they will only give one voucher and never anymore.
I’ve tried two internet café’s but they only have their PC’s to use.

Any wifi spots around like a bar or café that has wireless internet? I’m happy to buy a 7up or two for an hours use so I won’t be freeloading their facility. I don’t know anywhere though

    Thanks :)

    Welcome to my world!

Mc Donalds stopped giving me more than one too:o

Try hotels, most of them have wireless connection all you have to do is buy a tea or something... they would never kick ya out, don't go to Rathmines library(you can't log on to boards) and the cafe's there all tap the wireless.

And some hotels have that bitbuzz thing... it's ****e!

Go to the Gresham hotel, i was there myself last week... the only thing is your battery would have to be fully charged, i couldn't find a socket:mad:

I ended up buying the o2 plugin, would return it soon as i have no intention of keeping it

Argh... some colleges have restrictions on msn, yahoomessenger, bebo, fbook and even boards...

Don't use college wifi to look at porn, mates worked in the IT department and they could trace all the students... not nice when everyone in SU knows what sites you have been on:)

the new MYO in the IFSC has Wifi. it's not quite city centre but if you'll be there for a couple of hours then the 10 minute walk from the city centre won't bother you much

OP here, thanks for advice all :)

Sitting in the Gresham Hotel on O'Connell St with my free wifi and my overpriced 7up.
Seems to be quite popular, loads of people in the bar and lobby with laptops

Caffe Noto on Thomas St (if you're on that side of town) does free WiFi. Hanen't been there in a bit but it did really good coffee. Nice airy environment and v. popular with laptop users.

Second that - including the coffee, and fantastic homemade cakes. And being Thomas Street, they're half the price of the city centre.

As do the market bar on Fade street i think.

Was in there last night and there was no Wi-Fi signal. Nearest signal (needed a password) was the Asian Market next door.
