I have been itching to buy a new PC for a while and I think the 4870x2 looks like it could be a winner. Mostly going to use PC for media, photoshop, and FPS gaming. Want to keep the whole price under 1500euro

the list so far is all from hardwareversand except for monitor.

    4096MB-Kit Corsair TWIN2X DHX 8500C5DF, CL5 € 90,12 €
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Tray, 8192Kb, LGA775, 64bit, Kentsfield € 132,98 (is the stock cooler ok for this? not going to overclock)

    ATX-Netzteil Corsair TX750W 750 Watt € 1 86,02
    Coolermaster Cosmos € 152,79
    Samsung HD103UJ 1TB 32MB SATA II € 111,90
    D-Link AirPlusG DWL-G510 Wireless PCI-Adapter € 17,37
    Samsung SH-S203P bulk beige€ 22,41
    ASUS P5Q-E, Sockel 775 Intel P45, ATX €109,99
    MS Windows Vista home premium 64bit Englisch € 1 77,49 €
    Sum: 801,07 €

    plus 4870x2

The screen am torn between two dell's (hard to believe) was all set on a 24inch samsung until i saw some threads on these

of coarse have to wait for a few weeks, hopefully end of Aug until the 4870x2 is released but looking forward to it.

Just wanted to see what you guys though of the components in general as now too sure what I am doing.

All looks fine to me. If your going the 27" monitor id go for a slightly newer cpu like the q9650 but a q6600 will still be fine. If you go for the 24" monitor then the Q6600 will be more then fine.

thanks for that, Anti, will check it out, was not something I was aware of, will have a look at the budget.

want to look at some reviews for the case/psu when the card comes out and maybe at crossfire options in the future.

I would go with an x38 or x48 for future crossfire performance, if you do go down that route.

I have seen articles that showed bottlenecks with HD 4850 Crossfire on a P45chipset, i.e. with PCI-E 2 slots running at x8.That wouldnt be a problem with 1 HD4870X2, but if you decide to get a second one when prices drop it will be a problem.

If i were the op id just get a ****ty board for now, then get the x58 when it comes out. Then add on another card in CF. Why spend 200 bucks on a board now when its gonna hold back performance. Better of to spend 80 bucks on a half decent one then upgrade.

There is no cooler supplied with this choice just the processor, choose the boxed version if sticking with stock cooler.

The stock cooler is a decent one in my opinion, very solid feel to it and does the job well.
