    how much warranty should you get with a 2004 car? or does it vary form place to place

    Place to place. Ask at the garage and it will be different for some cars too. As for Private sales.......as long as the driveway.

    haha! i could of sworn i saw it advertised for 12 months on a different site to the one i saw it on. i said it to him and he said 3 mnths, i said oh i saw it on the site as 12 months...

    would they screw u over that way?

    Why don't you tell him that you will do a deal with him if he offers you 12 months warranty?
    Many main dealers give 12 months, not sure about others.
    If he doesn't agree to give you 12 months you have the choice to go somewhere else. If you really want the car then just hum and haw a bit and tell him you will go home to think about it & you'll probably be back sometime next week if you are going to go ahead with the purchase. They are keen to sell cars at the moment so he should offer you a deal...

    he already has.. he was originally givin me 4k for the trade in, he upped it to 5450. 500 to change. am i pushing my luck? its due for nct, he says put it thru and if it fails on anything it will be fixed foc..

    I had a similar thing a few of years ago. Bought a car that was due its NCT & the dealer offered to get it through the NCT at his cost. The car passed first time & every time since - so the dealer didn't have to lift a finger...
