    Just in case you were in any doubt that the miserableness of the motor industry doesn't permeate beyond dealer level, I just came across this competition to win a trip to the world launch of the new Opel Insignia next weekend at the London motor show. Fair enough, I thought, but then decided to check out the small print...

    8. The prizes consist of 1x flight to London Gatwick Airport from Dublin Airport on Saturday 26th July 2008. Return transfers from Gatwick to a London hotel. 1 x 1 day ticket to the London Motor Show on Saturday 26th July. 1 x Dinner for 1 on the evening of Saturday 26th July. 1 x Overnight accommodation and breakfast at the London hotel. 1x return flight to Dublin Airport from London Gatwick Airport on Sunday 27th July.


    I know being into cars can be a lonely road sometimes, and yes, yes, it is Friday night when I saw this, but come on, they could at least offer you two of everything... what a miserable prize. FFS, Dinner for one, (presumably they see you flicking through your bag of brochures in the corner of the restaurant...in the dark), in some poxy hotel... wearing an anorak... It's the ideal prize for Alan Partridge! Probably see you ringing reception at 3am "to make porn come on my television"...

    I won a trip to Italy with Alfa to drive the 8C - scheduled for this past week.......but my wife is expecting (overdue at this stage) so I couldn't go! First time I won anything!

    They wouldn't let me give it to someone or postpone it! Could only go to someone who had entered the competition. So I guess someone else got my prize.....oh well...at least someone will enjoy it!

    FFS, they've advertised a comp for someone who can go & do all detailed etc.

    I find it odd that the trip is to London to see the Vauxhall Insignia when

    1. vauxhalls arent sold here and

    2. opels arent sold over there.

    maybe the competition should have been a prize to Berlin which would be kool.
