Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Never heard of it?

Neither had I until a few moments ago - made in 1977 by the sometimes brilliant Tony Palmer its about the role of popular music in society. It starts on
More4 at 00.55 am, it stretches over 17 60 min installments.
    All You Need Is Love
All You Need is Love comes to More4. Over 17 episodes, this landmark series from the 1970s, that John Lennon described as a 'mighty achievement', tells the story of popular music from its earliest origins through to 1975. Featuring outstanding live footage as well as unparalleled interviews with figures ranging from Bing Crosby to Paul McCartney, Muddy Waters to Dizzy Gillespie, Liberace to Alice Cooper, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and Mick Jagger, All You Need is Love takes a close look at every strand of Anglo-American popular music: from ragtime and jazz through to acid and glam rock; from the arrival of African rhythms on slave ships through Blues, Swing, Vaudeville, the Broadway musical, Tin Pan Alley, Folk, Country, Pop, Rock and R&B.

Whats depressing is that more4 have hardly tried to sell this.

    Mike.

    Recorder set. Thanks Mike.

In a similar vein, anyone interested in the history of music by black artists in the 20th century should check out this box set. The scope of it is incredible, although personally I don't like the last two discs.
