Hello,

Last night i was driving the A6 when i heard something fall off the car, power steering went and alternator light came on. I imediately thought the belt had broken and fell off so i got home as quick as i could before the lights went out.
Looking at it this morning i see the belt is still in place and so it the tensioner. However there is no spring in the tensioner and the belt is loose.
The problem i have is what fell off? Does anybody have a link to a photo of the belt setup so i know what is missing?

Maybe nothing fell off. Is it possible that the noise you heard was the spring breaking in the tensioner?

This may help you if you compare the illustrations to your car's pulley set up.
