As always there is no shortage of brilliant pics in this thread, but given that I watched You're Next last night, this pic tickled my fancy. :)

    I wouldn't have known a few days ago! :D
Any idea if it's been found again since?

Is that a Slaty Backed Gull? It looks like some I saw in Alaska many years ago.

Nope it doesn't seem to have been spotted again since.

Slaty Backed Gull indeed. A very rare visitor. My guess is he came with the winds! :pac:

Slaty backed gulls are rare vagrants to Alaska (according to my Gulls of North America, Europe and Asia book), so probably not the bird you saw.

A mega find, I doubt many people would have been able to ID the bird. Another Gull for me to learn properly:o

Haven't had a Siskin in the garden for ages, so was delighted to see three there over the past few days, quick little guys though, they don't stay still for long.

This fox was enjoying the early morning sunshine until I stepped on a twig.

Then I spotted this little Red with some bedding in it's mouth.
    294364.jpg

And found where it has made it's home. :)

It is that time of year again they are very active at the moment. Spotted 10 yesterday. This been the one that allowed me the closest.

A few phone scoped pictures from the weekend birding on the north Clare coast

    - A distant pair of Slavonian Grebes
    - Red Throated Diver
    - Little Egret
    - Redshank

I also managed to spot a distant Black Throated Diver but to far offshore for a decent photo .

Yes it is, was watching the female giving the male a good run around two weeks ago amazing to watch.

Beautiful pic, you were lucky with the sun.

Some shots of unusual ducks in Blessington Basin, Dublin. Hooded merganser, mandarin duck, smew, white cheeked pintail and wood duck. Probably not wild birds more likely escapees or released from collections I would guess? Still nice to see though!
