Don't suppose you took that this morning and you live in dublin?

It was taken in Lucan Demesne a couple of weeks ago now

    Hey whyulittle,

How easy are the Grey Partridge to see at this time of the year at Boora? I'm thinking of heading down over the Summer but was wondering in your experience whhen would be the best time to see them?

    Regards

I know one of the keepers was telling me before the best time to see them is later in the year when the coveys are breaking up and all the new chicks are dispersing.

I've never found a bad time for them though. You're never guaranteed to see them, but you always have a good chance.

The one above was part of a pair that I spotted near a feed station as I pulled up to my parking spot. It's more then likely the same bird that I got a few weeks ago, it was in the same area.

Just some weeds on some rough ground, by the 'Swiftcall Centre', Booterstown/Merrion, South County Dublin.

The photos don't really convey how these plants pop out at you, colour wise, on a sunny day.

A weed!I've got these growing in my garden. It's Valerian and I think it's the cultivar of the Common or the Marsh Valerian.I see them growing naturally in the fenland close to my home. They're not quite as colourfully striking as these(pinkish-white usually).
    Nice shots by the way.

Many thanks for the identification Bonedigger. Rough ground can throw up a 'naturally' beautiful selection of domestic garden escapees.. :)

As I said, the 'silkiness' of the colour is something else, doesn't come across in the photos. I never get used to them, passsing by.

Taken with a LG Nexus 5.

Thanks splish! To be honest,I don't have a huge portfolio of wildflower or wildlife images, but will certainly look forward to adding more in the future.Yeah,I have a soft spot for wildflowers, but am in no way an expert.Hopefully I can upload some images of unusual species that may be particular to my part of the world.:)

Whale washed ashore about a week ago in West Donegal. Not sure what type it is though. It's about 15ft long.

Looks like Minke to me as well. Minke would be the most common baleen whale off Irish coasts. Been whalewatching a few times never heard of any bowheads been seen by anybody. (no expert on whales either).

Looks like Minke to me as well. You can report this to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (iwdg.ie) who like to keep track of strandings such as this.
