Forgive the quality, but hoping the overall look of this might be enough to ID. Emperor?

Are they from earlier in season? The bill should have more red at this time of year I think?

Yeah they're from earlier in the season - I have a huge backlog of photos I'll be going through over the coming weeks :p

Vast majority of them would be half red/half black now, there'd be barely any that look like those above now - maybe the odd first-time breeder that started very very late this season.

    (1) Hmm, not sure, might be another Migrant Hawker.
    (2) Yes.
    (3) Possibly Ruddy. Common Darter has a pale stripe on dark legs.
    (4) Yes, possibly Nowickia spec. This is a good place to possibly get it down to species: http://www.diptera.info/news.php

I took the legs to have a pale stripe alright. Are they just worn/faded?

The largest Cross Orbweaver I've yet seen.Measuring close to 4cm. in length(including the legs),it's most likely a female. The females often consume the males following mating!

A Red Squirrel made it's home in a scots pine tree right beside the house, I cant see the last three quarters of it when I look out the window it's that close.
And for a while now I've enjoying watching the only one red that was born there, (from the bedroom window):D.

That's a branch of an elder tree it's on, the two trees are together.
