I first discovered this relatively rare species of plant on the Curragh last year, and have waited patiently for it to come into flower since then.
It was certainly worth the wait!:)

    Thanks

Don't know if you've ever tried to photograph one -for an ordinary photographer like me- it's like trying to photo the wind!
That photo was taken in poor light with a 400mm zoom lens at 1600 ISO- you can see the graininess

To be honest keps,I'm an ordinary photographer too!I've only been at this game for six or seven months really and am learning each and every time I take up the camera. The most important thing in any image is the subject matter and not the technical proficiency of the photographer(that's what I like tell myself of course). You've a 400mm. zoom lens - try getting up close and personal with a 300mm. lens!
I was looking at the new Tamron 150-600mm. lens recently and it's supposed to be an excellent lens for the money,so it looks like I'll be scrimping and saving for some time to come.
By the way,I've yet to get a shot of a Kingfisher.I don't know how many times the little buggers have whizzed by me at lightning speed.Maybe one day!:)

    Great lens, this was taken with a 7D, 600mm @ 1/250 F7.1 iso 1000 handheld.
I have not had the time to take the lens out and give it the proper attention but I do like it.

I have no idea, it just showed up in the garden with another magpie. I assumed it was a juvenile thats beak hadn't grown fully yet but that could be me just being silly.

The yellow and black on the wings and tail, and overall yellowy/greeny colour, plus they're not feeding on rocks or seaweed - they're Greenfinch. And with the pale colour of the one on the right I'd say it's a juvenile.

While sitting waiting around for this beauty, something flashed past by me feet. Went to have a look, and a little Stoat head popped up to have a look back at me!

Watched these 2 for a while- the bird on the left did an extened leg-lift every so often- wonder is it some kind of mating move?

Nothing to do with mating its just a wing stretch.
