A wheatear indeed. I presume this picture was taken earlier during the summer as most wheatears if not all would have left the country by now.

but they won't enter garden never?

I get them in the garden outside the breeding season - as with Keps's photo they use the roof a lot, but do come down looking for food on the paths and grass

    @ Cork boy 55

They seem to prefer roofs/ concrete roads/paths to gardens.

Strangely enough was just putting the camera in the boot of the car this morning on my way to Rogerstown when I saw this wagtail on the roof of the house.

He was obviously tracking some insect.

And then he pounced- unfortunately I still had the camera at its last shutter speed of 1/160sec so he looks a bit blurred!
    The shadow looks better!

Wagtails often feed on concrete, tarmac, and rooves, as they take tiny morsels not targeted by other birds.

    They've always been there.
They usually best at the top of the old laundry tower

When I lived there I only saw Cormorants actually on the Dodder two or three times out of a lot of walks along the river over the course of two years - I'd see them on the old laundry tower moreso though - I suspect they fly elsewhere to fish a lot of the time.

Actually, now that I look at it, that Cormorant is ringed!

I use to see them quite regularly. Patricks day they be out after fish were stocked and they weren't exactly a welcome sight.
There was also a pair of them down at the red iron bridge at the firhouse falls.
There was also one on its own at the templogue bridge but he left and now the otters are there now
Those were the only places I used to see them.
