Looks like a Yellow bellied terrapin Keps, probably a dumped pet. Great spot though

Interesting that you would get a photo of a Wood Duck and a Yellow bellied terrapin, within 500metres of each other, on the Liffey in the same week;)

They've been there a while! There's a few places around Dublin with a similarly 'eclectic' species list, for similar reasons.

The great weather seems to have brought the insect world to life.

These Red Lily Beetles (below) were making-out on my Snake's Head Fritillaries yesterday. They're an invasive species, but pose no threat to
our native flora. Their larvae, if left unchecked, will decimate flowers and
leaves of common garden species such as lilies and fritillaries.

Great shots Bonedigger. The hoverfly is Eristalis pertinax as it has pale front and mid feet unlike E. tenax which has dark feet.

    Thanks Splish.
The shots were taken with my relatively new macro lens (Tamron 90mm.). I posted a few shots of garden flowers on the Gardening Forum not long ago, but this was the first time I got a chance to shoot insects. Using the macro lens isn't as easy as one would think though.
I'm really looking forward to the months ahead where I hope to take many more insect shots, and hopefully I'll get their names right too!

Lovely picture! Did you happen to stumble upon the mouse, or did you bait a particular location?

Thanks. I was out under a beech tree for a few days in camouflage gear trying to get Red Squirrels and I fired a banana skin over my shoulder and a few mins later this mouse came out to the skin. We could hear it walking on the dry leaves :)

The speed they can move at with such small legs is unreal.

I took this near the Botswana/Zimbabwe border. Not sure what it is; presume it's some kind of eagle, but it's a pretty cool bird. Any ideas on what it is exactly?

Also, I couldn't upload properly. I followed the instructions but when I right click on the attachment under Current Attachments I don't see the Copy Link Location option. Any suggestions?
