    @ TedR

On your Flickr if you click on one of your photos - you will get some options to the bottom right of the chosen photo.

One of these is a curved arrow..

Click on that and a number of further options appear

What you need is the BBCode option

A dropdown box gives you options on sizes- 800/850 is acceptable

    Copy and paste

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭whyulittle

It's linking to the Starling pic Ted.

To embed the pic directly into this thread, click on the photo in your photostream.

Then click on the little arrow at the bottom right to bring up the share options.

Choose BBCode, and a size option that is no longer than 800px on the longest edge.

It will generate the code for you that you can paste directly to Boards.

Thanks Fellas, appreciated. I did see the BBcode option but wasn't sure if that one was correct for posting to boards.
Ill give that a bash now, and again, apologies for the public experimentation.

Saw amazing stoop and kill today by male peregrine on a feral pigeon, he was joined at mealtime by the female too. Sandymount strand. I know these are grainy compared to some of the amazing shots on here. Birds were a long way off.

    Thanks!
I think I am an oldie too ;-)
Ive been lurking for ages... and wasn't sure on the protocols for posting pics. Thanks for the advice to Keps and Whyulittle, I seem to be up and running now

Sorry just a quick question. How would you embed an image from the gallery of your phone?
I have a nice pic of a swallow (or house martin - not sure) with chicks from a year or so back. They regularly nest in the outbuildings.

    Thanks

I do not know the answer- but maybe some of the more 'savvy' people here will know. There probably is an app to do it.

If you have a Mac/PC though - you could transfer the photos from your phone to it - and use the conventional way

From your phone open another window and search for Tinypic or another pic sharing site, press choose file, tap the picture you want to upload, press upload now ( might have to fill out an anti spam question ) you will then get a list of codes, copy the forum one, then open the page where you want to post i.e. this page then paste into post and submit reply :)

You can also put your photos on to your computer and repeat using a photo sharing site, some are free, some you have to pay for.

Hope this is explained clear enough.

Very nice - those must be the ones that "live" in one of the towers. I bird there often but only got to see one of them once, a few weeks ago.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread. I tried tinypic but it would only take me to my camera not my gallery.
I tried Pictures on my android phone but the sharing options doesn't contain anything for BBCode. Any ideas if Pictures or Drive on android support sharing with BBCode?

    Thanks

EDIT I figured out how to link to the picture gallery. You have to select documents (after clicking upload file) and this brings to the gallery.
I copied the image url after it uploaded and copied it to this forum wrapped in the tags but only a small blank little box showed up. I am not getting any options for forum code when I upload the image.

I eventually used a site called postimage.org and copied the 'direct link' to here.
I think these are swallows. Taken a couple of years back.

Yep, thats them. I spend a lot of time there, as I live close by, and am very interested in peregrines in particular. Its poss to see some great flying/hunting over the open strand.

I will keep an eye, I live in the area too. I hardly ever see anyone birding there and between the reserve, the sea and the towers there is a lot of variety.

Hi I usually watch from the long road with the speed bumps between the strand and the ESB Poolbeg perimeter fence. Dark grey beemer, with myself and scope/tripod leaning on it, Do say hello some day. Great place, lots to see all the time, good photo opportunities and all, although Im not such a great snapper really.

Maybe the offer of a cup of tea and a ham sandwich might do the job:pac:
