And a couple of our more commonly seen species. Also in st annes park dublin. Bet you cant tell what bird is blurred out behind the flower!! I had a hard time snapping wild birds today given how dense the leaf cover is this time of year. But boy could I hear them!

Would be interested in an ID here because the heather that covers Bray head to Greystones is covered in them this year.

Reading up about it last night seems it's Agelena labyrinthica. Seen them webs in heather before alright but never in grassland.

I think that's the egg sac you can see in the pictures.

Pic from the same field. It's a nice enough one for a stroll through.

Common name is the Early Bumblebee. Pratorum means meadows but doesn't appear in the common name strangely.

Took this in Castle Leslie in March. Not sure what the hell he is. Walked around for a bit and made no attempt to fly. Have I rediscovered the dodo?

Apologies for picture quality. Sizewise he was bigger than a chicken...almost a small turkey. Some kind of grebe? Although didn't think they were so big.

    Muscovy Duck, domestic!

Thanks. Just Googled and that's him. Had an idea he might be domestic as he was in a field with a couple of cattle, didn't look like a native and I assume is too fat to fly long distances.

Oh well, hopefully have another one soon. Discovered what appears to be a large tailless rodent in communal garden the other day. Thought he was a big hedgehog at first but not certain if he was spiny or furry as he hid when I got close. Will hopefully get a snap for you experts
