A white necked jacobin! You are probably in lowland rainforest.

It was cloud forest at approx 1400-1600m, Mindo, Ecuador. Approx 700 species of birds there and around 30 species of hummingbird. I reckon we spotted around 13 species of hummer in total including my fav - the booted racket tail! Extraordinary place!

Sounds brillant. Was in Costa Rica before, saw around 10 hummers. The hummingbird feeders are great to get photos. Booted racket tail is a must for me to see one day hopefully.

Finally figured out what them purple flowers are the other day. See them everywhere. Annoying me all summer! Willowherb/epilobium is the genus. From the same family as fuschias.

    A few from the farm.
Main Nettle bed now near 100% nettles.
    2uoqct4.jpg

Harvesting more nettle sods for other nettle bed. At the local dump cut nettles at base with slash hook. Then cut out 400cm2 area for transport to farm. 4 van loads of nettles.
    v78utv.jpg

Prepared areas. Rotovate the area and then dig in nettle sods. Spread 10-10-20 onto area to complete. 2nd photo shows nettles that were planted early in Spring.

Some wildflowers from meadows. Not too sure of ID of plants. Splish assistance required.
