    Mod Note:

    Congratulations to Splish for July's Picture of the Month - not only a fine shot of a Comma, but a picture of its egg too - something I'm sure very few of us have ever seen or noticed!

    I am trying to take them from my Flickr page directly to boards , click on the link and they should open.

    You need to click the "Share Photo" arrow to the bottom right of your photo. Choose BBCode, then the size (no longer than 800px on its longest side) and then just copy and paste the code it generates.

    haha -

    I took 18 photos of that pesky Siskin - and that was the only one that had 'clarity' :)

    Trial and error

    Are you using manual, or at least shutter/aperture priority Keps?

    Focus on the eyes, have fast enough shutter speed to reduce subject blur.. lens opened wide...low aperture number... iso to suit conditions..

    Also don't fill up on strong coffee before taking the camera out..:P

    @pegasus

    thanks- the problem was this bird was at the top of a 40 ft tree directly above my head and so I was holding heavy camera lens/ vertically... bird kept moving and became half hidden behind other branches... camera on manual(apart from AF)-600mm lens ( zoom)at max aperture and 400 ISO - and 160th sec.
    Should have increased ISO /shutter speed- but afraid bird would be gone

    PS Exif available by double clicking on photo

    I think that's answered me a nagging question. Not long ago I saw two birds like that flying along a road under the tree canopy, flitting up into the branches and back down , almost as if they were playing. I now reckon they were Kestrels. Thx for a great photo
