    Tayto park yesterday and what a day for it.
    Amur leopard. Absolutely gorgeous animal and you can feel the power just looking at him

    No offence (I know you have a great appeciation of wildlife), but photos of big cats in cages depress me:(

    Oh I definitely agree with you on that. Rather see a rare Amur leopard here than on somebody's wall. But just the way he say in the sun. Pure royalty look about him. And you can tell how much power he has. If he got a hold of ya you're fcuked. But yes I do agree with you.

    Some of you may remember the photo of the ringed Black-headed gull I posted last week.
    As a reminder – here’s another shot (-;

    28743118650_43792e4932_b.jpgringed

    Just got confirmation from Polring that this Gull was ringed in RADYCZYNY,TUREK, WIELKOPOLSKIE, POLAND on the 16th June this year.
    Sex and age listed as unknown other than ‘after 2nd calendar year’.

    The flight from the location where it was ringed to Bushy Park is detailed as 845 km.

    That's excellent Keps! I've had a couple of BHGull resightings from the UK, but never from as far away as Poland! I suspect if you keep an eye out at Bushy Park every winter you'll see that bird returning year after year.

    For anyone interested, there's a blog about Black-headed Gulls in Northern Ireland - both resightings of birds from far away in NI and vice versa:
    http://bhgullsni.blogspot.ie/

    It also goes to show that it's well worth keeping your eyes peeled, even amongst somewhat common birds that we often take for granted such as Black-headed Gulls in parks in winter - a lot of them have fascinating backstories to be learned!

    Juvenile willow warbler. Has long primary projection which rule out chiffchaff.

    After a long long time, I finally got some good views of some lizards! I normally just see them scurrying into the undergrowth, but the boardwalk at Clara Bog was covered with them today.

    Also, first time to see any of the Fritillaries, a Silver-Washed I think?

    Thanks keps.
    There's a healthy population of these little fellas in a woodland close to me.
    It's always difficult to get a clear, sharp shot through the foliage, and the shade of the canopy doesn't help either.
